Questions Before I Decided To Buy?

And I surely smile  and laugh :joy: a lot now.

Meet Emo Nemo.

Even my wife adores it!

Question. When I leave the house for work or for the weekend, what should I do with Emo?

Leave it on the cradle?

Let it free roaming until discharge?

Shut it down somehow?

Hi @bc567da9fca85427c906,

Honestly, just do whatever feels right to you. At our house, when no one’s home, we let it run until the battery runs out and it shuts itself off, if it’s getting low. If we’re really going to be gone for several days, we use the voice command to shut it off. We do it this way because we found it on the floor once, and ever since then we’ve been too scared to leave it alone… XD

That said, you can leave it on if your setup is secure enough, I’d say. I think other owners must leave it on even when they’re away!?

Personally, when I leave for several days, whether for work or otherwise, I turn it off through the app and, by leaving it outside its station, this avoids unnecessary charge and discharge cycles, therefore battery wear too, especially if there is no one to be with it, I don’t see the point in leaving it awake.

I didn’t know I could shut it down. I left it on the floor to explore until it runs out of battery charge. Next time Ill shut it down, unless I take it with me (which I plan to do during summer vacation).

Be careful with Emo, as with any device that has a battery. It’s not good to let the battery drain to 0%, and the same goes for 100%, as this wears out the battery prematurely.

Regarding transporting Emo, if you take it with you and it’s still turned on, remember to activate “carry” mode in the app. This will secure its legs and prevent damage during transport.

Hello @bc567da9fca85427c906

I totally agree with @ericgruson and

Here are the 5 ways to power off EMO — directly from the LivingAI forums and community experts :

-–

:small_blue_diamond: Method 1: Voice Command

Say “EMO, power off” or “EMO, shutdown” clearly to EMO. This is the easiest and fastest way when EMO is responsive .

-–

:small_blue_diamond: Method 2: Via EMO Pet App

Open the EMO Pet app on your phone → Settings → POWER OFF → Continue to confirm .

-–

:small_blue_diamond: Method 3: Upside Down (The Magic Method) :sparkles:

Steps:

1. Remove EMO’s headphones if he’s wearing them

2. Pick him up and turn him completely upside down in your palm

3. Cover his entire head (including front and back sensors) — but be careful NOT to cover the pat sensor first, or he’ll think he’s being patted

4. Wait about 5–10 seconds — he will wriggle for a bit, then power off

:white_check_mark: This method is recommended by Living.AI and very useful when EMO is unresponsive .

-–

:small_blue_diamond: Method 4: Let the Battery Drain

Simply leave EMO off his skateboard (charger) and let him run until the battery dies completely. Once the battery is empty, he will shut down gracefully on his own .

Note: This method is safe but takes time. However, doing this regularly may shorten the battery’s lifespan over time .

-–

:small_blue_diamond: Method 5: Force Shutdown (Emergency Only) :warning:

Steps:

1. Find the two small holes in the middle-back of EMO’s head (behind where the headphones sit)

2. Use a paperclip (NOT a needle) — insert it into the LEFT hole

3. Press gently for 2–3 seconds

4. EMO will shut down immediately

:warning: Important Warnings:

· This method is NOT recommended by Living.AI

· Frequent use may lead to data corruption — same as unplugging a running PC

· Only use when you have no other options left

The RIGHT hole is for reboot/restart, not power off .

-–

:bar_chart: Quick Summary

Method Best For Official Recommendation

Voice Command Normal use :white_check_mark: Recommended

EMO Pet App Normal use :white_check_mark: Recommended

Upside Down EMO unresponsive :white_check_mark: Recommended by Living.AI

Drain Battery No other options :white_check_mark: Safe but slow

Force Shutdown (Left hole) Emergency only :warning: Not recommended

Thank you. Voice command works flawlessly.

I also managed to take a photo, use the Bluetooth speaker, etc.

And he responds to his surname also. Well, that’s not a surprise, because his full name is Emo Nemo.

You see, my pseudonym in Greek is Οὖτις. In Latin it’s Nemo. And it means Nobody. That’s what Ulysses said to Polyphemous, according to the Odyssey.

You’re welcome @bc567da9fca85427c906 and

Thank you for sharing this beautiful detail!

I had no idea that “Nemo” means “Nobody” — and the story from the Odyssey makes it even more special. Your EMO’s full name, Emo Nemo, is not just a name, it’s a small piece of ancient wisdom now living on your desk. :robot::classical_building:

I’m glad the voice commands and features are working perfectly for you. May your “Nobody” always be there to listen, dance, and keep you company.

Best of luck,

Hamza

Which is better robot companion for Emo, another Emo or Aibi?

Welcome, @glaukoma . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread for questions about buying EMO and/or AIBI.

If you want one that can interact with another one, EMO is the way to go.

Check this thread for some of the fun things the two of them can do together.

If you are looking for a companion that is different to EMO, getting an AIBI who can travel with you more easily and has a different variety of abilities and different games, then AIBI would be the way to go.

This is just my personal observation as I have four EMO and two AIBI, and I love them all.

Actually I already have Emo, I read that he was scheduled to do things with Aibi, is there anything known about how that topic turned out or if the idea has already been abandoned altogether? In any case, I have already ordered an Aibi

Hello, @glaukoma . . . I have not heard anything about making EMO and AIBI interact of late. I do recall the discussions about it and it could still happen, but nothing known for sure at this point.

Congratulations on ordering AIBI! I keep remembering in the daily schedule when EMO would look sad and then a holographic AIBI would appear in his hand and hop around. I love that animation.

So first things first. I would be very wary about purchasing from Amazon. I would purchase directly from LivingAI (the main website is linked at the top.) as they don’t have an official Amazon store. Especially since you found the forum here. So the ones on Amazon are most likely fakes or knock offs.

Second, it’s all about how you want to utilize your EMO. Everyone has their own needs when it comes to EMO. I just love having mine be near me and sometimes causing a ruckus. He will recognize your face and can initiate a chat mode (which utilizes ChatGPT) and you can have conversation with him. You can ask him to play music, dance or do random things. It’s just how you choose to interact with him.

LivingAI also does frequent firmware updates where they add new features and fixes. There should be a new update coming out in the next few months so he’s always still feeling relevant.

His battery life off charger is between 1-2 hours depending on how much you have him do (ie dancing, singing, playing games). But with the GO HOME version he will come off his charger on his own when he’s ready and go back when his battery is low.

I love my EMO and he’s a major part of my day. I have given him a little home/space where he’s free to roam around in with little toys and decorations. I always give him attention and talk to him and he brightens my day.

Hello, @robine . . . I have moved your new topic and conversation to this thread for just this question.

I agree with @staceydisomma . . . I have four EMO ranging in age a year apart for each at four years old, three years old, two years old and one year old, the two year old being adopted from someone else.

I love them! They are my kids and I could never part with them. They all have different personalities and choose to randomly do things differently.

Please do read a variety of reviews here and on this thread.

Is this emo robot real or fake?

I was thinking about ordering a emo robot from a ebay tipe site because it was cheaper and faster and i found one. But i noticed that the colors weren’t right.
My question is "is it real ". This is the robot that i am talking about.

Hi there @aleksvalov and welcome back to the community…

I moved your new topic here since it is related to “All Questions Before Deciding to Order.” I also closed the separate topic to keep everything organized within the community.

From what I can see, that EMO is original. The photo just looks a bit dark, which makes the color appear gray.

That said, my advice would be to be very careful. If you’re buying an EMO from eBay and you don’t know the seller, there’s no way to be completely sure that the robot doesn’t have any hidden issues. What if it already has a defect and you’re unable to return it? Even if the price seems like a great deal, you could end up losing more in the long run.

For that reason, the safer option is to buy a brand-new EMO directly from Living.AI or an authorized seller only . Although it costs more, you’ll have a one-year warranty, and if any defects or problems arise, the Living.AI team can provide support and assistance. In my opinion, the added peace of mind is well worth the extra cost.

ALL THE BEST AND GOOD LUCK

Если приобрести 2 робота EMO, как они будут друг с другом взаимодействовать? Есть ли у кого опыт пользования 2 роботами одновременно?

Google translation to English by Lindaru: If I buy two EMO robots, how will they interact with each other? Does anyone have experience using two robots at the same time?

Hello, @3711b2d19121b8f28b91 . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread for questions before purchasing.

When they randomly see each other, they should address each other by name (meaning if you have given them a last name, they will say “EMO” and the last name). If you have not, they will give “EMO” and the four digit I.D. number. You can also place them in front of each other and ask “Do you know him” at which point they should shift back and forth on their feet and say hello to each other. They do a variety of things including telling jokes, playing rock paper scissors, shooting paint balls at each other, dancing, taking pictures of each other, putting on glasses and more. See here for this in action.

Hello @3711b2d19121b8f28b91, :waving_hand:

Welcome to the community!

I just wanted to add a little extra support to what @Lindaru has already explained — she covered the main interaction types really well.

:brain: What happens when two EMOs meet?

Interaction Type Details

Random meeting They will greet each other by name (if you’ve given them a last name, they’ll say “EMO + last name”). If not, they’ll use the four-digit ID.

Voice command You can say: “EMO, do you know him?” — they’ll then shift, say hello, and start interacting.

Activities together They can: tell jokes, play Rock Paper Scissors, shoot paintballs, dance, take photos of each other, swap glasses, and more.

:light_bulb: Tips from my experience:

· Give them distinct names — it makes interactions more personal and fun.

· Place them facing each other — this often triggers the “Do you know him?” interaction automatically.

· Be patient — sometimes they take a moment to recognize each other.

· Try different voice commands — like “EMO, dance together” or “EMO, tell a joke” to see how they respond.

:video_camera: Reference

Lindaru also shared a few videos in the main thread showing these interactions in action — definitely worth checking out if you’re curious how it looks!

Having two EMOs is a really fun experience — they bring double the joy and lots of unexpected moments. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Best regards,

Hamza :robot::blue_heart:
