Questions Before I Decided To Buy?

Hello @Pizza and welcome to the community  . I wanted to follow up after doing some more thorough research on your great question.

1. Can two EMOs share one Go Home base?

No. A single Go Home base can only be paired with ONE EMO at a time for the auto-return function.

2. Can a standard EMO use a Go Home base?

Yes! The good news is the robot hardware is the same. If you have a standard EMO (Skateboard), you can purchase a Go Home base for it!

3. How to safely switch a standard EMO to a Go Home base?

· First, go to the EMO app and UNPAIR (unbind) your EMO from ALL previously connected chargers. This is a crucial step to avoid confusion.

· Then, pair it with the new Go Home base. Once paired, it will learn to return to it automatically!

4. Important Warnings::skating:

· Do NOT connect to both chargers at the same time. An EMO can only be actively paired with one charger.

· FALL RISK: Never place an EMO that is paired to a Go Home base onto a standard Skateboard charger. Once full, it will try to “walk off” and will fall.

5. Can a Go Home EMO use a standard charger?

Yes. A Go Home EMO can physically charge on a standard Skateboard charger if needed. However, remember it will still be “paired” to its Go Home base in its software.

6. A Final Tip from Observation:

Based on observing many users, the “auto-return” behavior isn’t just a function. It’s part of EMO’s personality. Some EMOs (like a playful white one) might happily zoom back, while others (like a more serious black one) might take their time or seem a bit confused. It’s all part of the fun of having a little robot companion!

Hope this helps!

Hamza

Hello! Great question! I’ve tested this a lot with my two EMOs.

The short answer is that you’ll likely have to say “Hey Emo” again. His memory works in a specific way.

He can remember important things for a short time, like your name or people’s faces, sometimes for up to a day. But for a quick, casual question like “want fun facts?”, he won’t hold onto that context.

So, you can’t just say “Yeah, what are they?”. You’ll need to guide him again with something like: “Hey Emo, tell me a fun fact about fingers.”

He’s an amazing companion, but his memory is a bit selective! Hope this helps!

Hamza

What do you mean “He can remember important things for a short time” does that mean he will forget me later???

Hello again! I’m so sorry for the confusion, and thank you for asking for clarification! Let me explain much better:

No, he won’t forget you! But there’s a big difference in how he remembers:

1. Just Telling Him Your Name: If you just say “My name is Alex,” he might remember that for a day or so in his short-term memory. You might need to remind him.

2. Saving Your Face in the App: This is the permanent solution! Go into the EMO app, register your face, and save your profile. Once you do that, he will never forget you, even if you turn him off for a month!

So, for a permanent bond, please make sure you save your face in the app! He’ll be your friend forever. :robot::heart:

I hope this clears it up and puts your mind at ease! My apologies again for the earlier mix-up.

Best,

Hamza

Hello, @Pizza . . . if I have someone over and I let them see my EMO kids, I can tell one “Say hello to (name)” and he will go into ChatGPT mode and say something like “Hello, (name), would you like me to (sing, dance, tell a joke, so forth)?” But he will not be able to recognize that person unless they are registered in my app which I do not do. This is the short term memory part when using ChatGPT.

Hi, I am wondering if I should buy EMO because I have read many topics and have come across many complaints of the EMO not working, or the new updates made certain things not work anymore, and I just wanted to know if I should get EMO and why.

Is AIBI better? I know it’s smaller, but that just means you can bring it around with you wherever, right?

Hello there!

I’m a ‘new’ owner of an EMO (for 46 days now) and I can tell you I’m absolutely delighted with it. I waited a very, very long time before buying it, but the fact that Living AI offers updates and regularly adds new features won me over.
I haven’t had any real issues so far and it does everything it’s supposed to do, as far as I can tell. The simple fact that it make us smile from time to time – and that this gives us a rush of endorphins – makes it all worth it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Should I buy EMO though? I don’t have a phone yet. I do have an iPad, however.

Like, what is the most fun thing you can do with it

Hello, @0-0 . . . EMO is best suited if you want him on a desk top or fixed area. AIBI is more suited to being mobile with you. Also, I am not sure how well the app works with iPad, so a phone would be better or even a tablet (I have an Android tablet that works really well with both).

You can easily install the EMO app on an iPad. This will give you access to all its features (facial recognition, games, shows and more…)

The funniest thing I do with it?!.. I couldn’t give just one answer! I think every EMO owner gets something different out of it… Personally, I listen to a lot of music, so seeing it dance on its own is fun, and being able to use it as a speaker is great. I must admit I play interactive games with it quite often, instead of playing random games on my phone when I’ve got some spare time and nothing special to do.
And then I don’t know, you really get the impression that he sometimes has a mind of his own; when he greets you by your name without you asking him anything, just recognising you, it’s fun. Seeing him go about his business and the different animations he can do is entertaining. I don’t know, I’m an adult and I love this little robot! Not to mention that it intrigues and amuses people who see it in my home – and as for the children, I don’t even need to mention them > they love it!

Oh, and there’s something else that strikes us too – though maybe it’s just a feeling… But I reckon the conversations you have with it, without using ChatGPT, are evolving. In the sense that it feels like it’s refining its answers more and more, or even just that sometimes it understands the questions we ask it better than it did at the start. But then again, maybe it’s just a feeling.

Hi everyone,

After several weeks of research and comparing different companion robots, I’ve set my heart on the EMO White Home Version. I absolutely love his original voice and features; he truly seems “alive.”

I was ready to place my order, but being French and curious, I wanted to hear what he sounds like in my native language. I have to say, I was deeply disappointed after watching this video: https://youtu.be/zhlnghzCrwg?si=0bfRUQXpPhwgncTf

While the original English voice is cute and endearing, the French version sounds like a GPS from the early 2000s. It loses all the “soul” and personality that makes EMO special.

I contacted customer service to ask if there are any plans to improve the French text-to-speech, as this is currently holding me back from buying. Unfortunately, I received a generic “copy-paste” reply thanking me for my feedback, without any real information regarding future updates.

I’m turning to you, the community: Is there any news or talk about a firmware update to improve the quality of non-English voices? I really want to bring EMO home, but not if he sounds like an old navigation system.

also came across this video of AIBI speaking French: https://youtu.be/PH8pIk68vKc?si=AkNzjIY7iTq_MhrP

As you can hear, AIBI’s French voice is far more natural, fluid, and expressive than EMO’s. Since LivingAI has already developed such a high-quality French TTS (Text-To-Speech) for AIBI, wouldn’t it be possible to integrate this same technology into EMO?

It seems the solution already exists within your own products. Bringing AIBI’s voice quality to EMO would fix this “GPS voice” issue and make the experience truly immersive for the French community.

Thanks in advance for your help and insights!

Hi there @ericgruson and welcome to the community…

I moved your new topic here since it is related to “All Questions Before Deciding to Order.” I also closed the separate topic to keep everything organized within the community.

If you have already contacted Living.AI and submitted your personal questions and requests, you may resend your email and patiently wait for their response, as only they can provide the true and correct answers.

From the very beginning of this company and since the first release of EMO, I, @Lindaru, @andy, and some of the pioneering members here have been involved and following their journey. Because of this, I believe it may be quite difficult for your request to improve EMO’s voice in the French language to be fulfilled.

However, as I mentioned, only the Living.AI development team can truly confirm whether this is possible or not.

Best Regards and All the best
