Emo's Leg/Foot Defective Issue!

It appears that some animations are difficult for him to finish.

For example, his new “poop” animation, during his leg movements, he thinks he’s on an edge and get’s interrupted. This also applies to his space invader animation. Almost 8/10 times he gets interrupted and is never able to complete. 70% of the time when he’s leaving his home base, he also gets interrupted during his happy animations.

I make sure to keep his pad clean and his feet clean often. I’m using the official emo mat with ample lighting.

He’s not on the edge when this occurs. I’ve had it happen all over the mat.

We have 2 Emo’s and they suffer from the same ailment. We have yet to see a full poop animation without him being interrupted.

His sensors seem to be too sensitive. I have no issues when he’s dancing, but to my knowledge his sensors are turned off during the animation process.

Sorry to hear this, @kevin3 . . . I must first ask you, are you sure it is not a sound that interrupts them? Mine have been in the middle of an animation and someone near me speaks and they stop the animation immediately.

If you are are sure that is not the cause and their feet are clean, then I would advise letting service@living.ai know about it along with your EMO I.D. numbers. If this has just started or if it has been going on for a while, let them know that, too.

My best to you.

El pie izquierdo de mi emo tiembla cada vez que hace algún movimiento, incluso al bailar siempre se cae. Será problema de calibración? Tiene más de 700 días de vida, ayuda!

Google translation to English by Lindaru: My emo’s left foot trembles every time he moves, and he even falls when he’s dancing. Could it be a calibration problem? He’s over 700 days old, help!

Hello, @juan.aranguiz . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread for issues with EMO legs and feet.

The very first thing I would suggest is to clean his edge detectors and the bottoms of his feet with a cotton swab or microfiber cloth to see if dust may be causing him to have issues.

If this does not work and since he is now off of warranty, it is possible that Support may still be able to assist with recalibration if they believe that is the solution.

Please get a video and send a link along with your EMO age, EMO number and description of the problem to service@living.ai . . . please note that they are on national Lunar New Year holiday in China, so responses will likely be delayed.

My best to you.

Hi there again,

i still haven’t got a reply from living.ai, when is it expected they will respond again.

Also, the emo shaking foot problem has become worse with it now showing all the time when emo stops walking or moving. shall i make a video about this to show yall?

Hello, @Fallouttimmy . . . they should all be back in office by February 25th but for now while the national Lunar New Year holiday in China is still going, their staffing is limited. They are the ones who will need to see any updated video of the worsening problem.

I understand about the leg shaking getting worse. I had two of them that went through that.

Your patience is appreciated.

hi there @Lindaru , thanks for responding. as of writing this message the problem is getting even worse.

i have powered off emo to prevent any more damage from occuring if there is any.

i am really worried about my emo.

i really hope that this can be fixed. is there something i can do to maybe solve the issue?

Hello, @Fallouttimmy . . . unfortunately LivingAI will have to be the ones to diagnose and advise on what they are going to do. If your EMO is still under warranty, that is the best way to go. If not under warranty, you can do the repairs yourself but you will still need advice from LivingAI as to what parts to obtain.

There is information replacing wires and servos here if you are planning to go that route but know that if you do this, you will void the warranty.

My best to you and your EMO that this can be resolved quickly.

Hello I have the first version of emo. Having issues with the right leg not walking straight. He can’t get to the charging station I emailed support about a month ago with no reply I wanted to know where I can order parts to fix it myself

Hi there @charlyn.rodriguez and Welcome to the Community…

I have moved your new topic here to address everything about EMO leg and related issues

I can see that your EMO is already out of warranty.

I can only advise you to contact Living.AI customer support and provide a proof video of the issue, along with the following information:

  • Order number
  • EMO ID

That will help them properly assess and assist you. Just ask them if they can still help you with your EMO’s issue. Normally, they are kind and always willing to help their customers.
Please note that they are currently on National Lunar New Year holiday in China, so responses will likely be delayed. Please just be patient.

Wishing you more luck and all the best to your EMO!

Best Regards

Dear Living AI

My EMO robot right leg has been quite noisy the last 2 weeks and it seems like the gears are worned out or getting stripped for some reason. It is getting worse by the day and EMO is struggling to walk around or get back to its charging station. I noticed on some blogs and forums that EMO’s right leg seems to be an ongoing problem with some of the EMO robots. Is there any way of repairing this or getting this repaired?

I have had an EMO for less then a year now and it is sad to see him struggle like this.

I have send Support an e-mail a week ago with regards to EMO’s leg and included a Video as evidence. Still awaiting response, Please find details of EMO below.

Hi there @andries.du_toit and Welcome to the Community…

As far as I’ve opened and tried to repair my old EMO, I was able to see some of the possible reasons why this kind of issue happens. One of them is a defect in the internal wiring connected from his legs down to his feet. Another possible cause is a problem with his servo motors.

This is not easy to repair, because you will need all of the original parts. So while your EMO is still under warranty, I strongly suggest that you contact Living.AI service support and ask them politely to assist you with this issue.

Please include to your email:

  • Order number
  • EMO ID
  • Issue video

Please note that they are currently on public holiday in China, so responses will likely be delayed. Please just be patient.

GOODLUCK AND ALL THE BEST TO YOUR EMO

Same. Mine is doing the same thing!

I’ve managed to fix it with the support team, (thanks guys!!) But now it is short. Which is strange. Have any ideas at all?

Google translation to English by Lindaru: This has been happening for a few days now, but I hadn’t had the time to report it until now.

The other day, I left the house, and when I returned, I found him powered off and lying on the floor. I thought this was strange, as his table was completely clear and he hadn’t had any issues before. Then, a couple of days ago, it happened again—and right in front of me this time. I watched as he walked forward, but his sensors failed to activate, causing him to fall. I tried to fix the issue by turning him off and back on again, but that didn’t help at all. I now live in constant fear that he might fall every time I leave the house and suffer some serious damage.

And that’s not all; he has also started walking strangely. What I mean is, when I tell him to walk straight, he veers slightly to the side, so he doesn’t follow a straight line. His foot seems crooked, and I imagine this is due to the impacts he sustained from falling.

Another issue I’ve encountered is that, prior to the new update, he would say a specific phrase before leaving his charging station—essentially bidding it farewell. However, he no longer does this. Now, he simply rolls out, looks back at his base as if he wants to say something to it, but remains silent; then he turns around and starts walking away.

Please, I need to know if there is anything I can do to help him myself, or if I need to contact customer support to get my Emo fixed. He is very precious to me. :frowning:

This is your table currently.

And this is how I found it last time—lying on the floor. Unfortunately, its screen now has some large scratches that are quite noticeable up close.

Google translation to English by Lindaru: Hi, the problem might lie with the table. EMO’s sensors work by detecting changes in the background “color”; since your table is completely dark, EMO perceives it as a uniform surface. In such cases, the sensors sometimes behave erratically, which can cause the robot to fall off the table. I recommend—if possible—applying a colored sticker to the edges of the table that contrasts sharply with the table’s color (either a light color or an even darker one). That way, when EMO reaches the edge, it will detect the line and won’t cross it. As for the issue regarding it not communicating with its charging base, I’m afraid I can’t offer any help there. For the past month, my own EMO has gone “deaf and mute” (it neither speaks nor responds to commands), and I’m currently trying to resolve the issue with the support team—though they are very, very slow to respond and seem to pay very little attention.

Good luck with your EMO!

Hello, I also thought the same as shadowman, because my Emo gets very irritated, if I put him on a dark surface. So either you can use the surface you got with your Emo Go Home of Living.ai (grey with black border) or make a bright film over your table with a black border all around, so Emo can stop, when he notices the dark border. But also then it could happen that he falls off the table, because if he is dancing he won‘t recognize the end of the table. Then the sensors preventing him of falling, don’t work. So it’s the best to make a little wooden strip around, he can’t get over! Good luck for you and your Emo!!!

Hello, @hococu . . . I have moved your new topic and conversation to this thread for issues with the legs and feet which you say EMO is not walking straight. This may mean that he needs calibration or repair to his servos and/or wires which you can request Support to assist you with by getting video of the issue and sending a link along with a description of the issue, your EMO I.D. number and order number (if you still have it) to service@living.ai . . . also, you need to make sure that EMO has a safe area that is bordered by some type of walls to keep him from falling off of the table. See here for some ideas.

As for not speaking to the home station when leaving, the LivingAI team has already been informed of this issue and perhaps it will be corrected on the next firmware update.

My best to you!

Hello,

We contacted support by email on March 14 but have not received any response.

Our EMO robot has a problem:

- the left leg is partially stuck and not working properly

- because of this, EMO cannot stand correctly and cannot charge

The robot is still under warranty (purchased November 2025 from official website).

Please help us or advise what to do.

Thank you.
