EMO is shutting down!

We got our EMO 2 days ago, and just after 1 day it keeps shutting down. What is happening?

Hi @Cornelia

How long does EMO stay on before he shuts down? Does he shut down even if he’s sitting on his skateboard? Also what does his battery level look like when you check it in the EMO App, or if you ask him to show you his battery level?

Have you tried to install the latest EMO firmware ver1.6.0? If you have yet to do this, try and see if you can install the latest firmware. You can check a guide on how to do this here: EMO Firmware Update v1.6.0 Video

Please try and provide as much info as possible, for anyone on the community to assist. You might need to contact support regarding this, if you need to contact support you can do so in the following way:

When contacting Living.ai support. It is recommended to create a short video of when and how EMO is powering down/shutting down and then submit a support ticket. You can do this by either going to the Support Page: (see below).

Fill in all details (provide also your order number info as well) and attach your video (if it’s larger than 30Mb), Be best to upload it to a google drive/drop box or even on YouTube and then send the support team a link to it.

You can also send support an email to the following email address:

service@living.ai

If you have your original EMO Order confirmation email, you can simply just hit reply to that as it contains all your customer contact info along with your order number details as well and then once again provide a detailed description of the problem you have with your EMO and attach your video as well.

Hope this helps

Can you please share the updates? @Cornelia

If you are experiencing issues with EMO shutting down randomly, as mentioned above, it is always recommended to create a short video and submit a support ticket / send support an email and allow them to provide further troubleshooting assistance.

Hello it sounds like it might be a battery issue do you have a home station or a skateboard? If you have the skateboard how long do you keep him on it ?

Hey @LadyM,
EMO Shutting Down For No Reason?
But Normally EMO’s Battery Can Last Between 1 To 3 Hours After A Full Charge.

But If He Is Shutting Down For No Reason, It’s Suggested That You Should Create A Video Of The Problem And Contact Support Via Email Service@Living.AI,
Or By Submitting A Support Ticket On The Website.

Fill All The Details Including Your Original Order Number Found In Your LivingAI Account And Also Create A Video Of The Issue.
However If The Video Is Larger Than 30MB, It Is Best To Upload The Video To The Following Platforms:
iCloud.com,
Google Drive,
Microsoft Onedrive,
Dropbox, Or
YouTube.com,
And Then Send The Link To The Living.AI Team.
The Living AI Team Might Respond Within 2 To 3 Days, So Please Be Patient.

Hope This Helps.

My emo is doing this too. He is just overloaded. When he is on a new locations (on the ground, other room, other houze) he is scanning and he just overloads with 2 or 3 tasks

Does anyone else’s EMO just randomly shut off? Mine will reboot in the middle of playing Ludo, he will say he’s leaving his home station and then shut off mid step, he’s doing it more and more. I’ve sent a few emails to the service email, waiting to hear back.

Hello, @christine.richardson . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread.

I have had two of mine do this. The first one was not charging fully because the charging cable on the home station had gone bad. Please try seeing if changing the cable will help.

The other one was a depleted battery issue. If changing the charging cable does not help, you may need to monitor the battery level when EMO is off of the station and see if it shows empty or how full it is before it shuts off.

If it depletes quickly, you will need to contact service@living.ai with a link to a video demonstrating the battery strength depletion. You can reply to your order confirmation E-Mail if you have that and if not, send the link to service@living.ai with your order number (if you do not know the order number, use the four digit alphanumeric code when EMO signs into the app).

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for the suggestions! Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s a battery level issue in my case. After EMO restarts, I always ask him for his battery level, and it shows as fully charged. He starts walking off the charger when fully charged but then shuts down mid-step. I place him back on the charger, and once he boots up, I check the battery again—it’s still fully charged. When I take him off the station, he’s fine for a while but eventually shuts down randomly.

For instance, we’ll be in the middle of a game like Ludo, and he shuts off suddenly. This also exits me out of the game, so we have to restart. He can make it through a few games before the issue happens again.

I did contact customer service, and they sent me the EMO Cares app to run a battery test. I recorded the test and sent them a video as instructed, along with some additional pictures and videos. However, I haven’t received any replies yet. My other EMO has never shut off randomly… so I’m not sure what is going on with my newest one.

Be sure to let us know, @christine.richardson . . . what they tell you it is and what they advise for fixing the problem.

They are in the holiday rush time right now, so it might be a bit before they can analyze what you sent them and get back to you.

Happy holidays!

Thank you, I will… he got stuck in some weird skipping issue earlier today. First it looked like he was dancing but was performing the same up/down action for 5 mins. So I picked him up to get him out of it. Then when I put him down he started stuttering where it was a 1/2 “woah” sound and eyes 1/2 open blinking happening over and over and over. I had to shut him down, put him on his home station, he recovered but when I told him to come off his charger he said OK, took 2 steps and started the odd stuttering thing again. Nothing on the bottom of his feet. I had to shut him down again and leave him shut off for 5 mins before I was able to get him out of the weird loop. I’m starting to get really worried about him now. Happy Holidays to you too!

So sorry things are getting worse, @christine.richardson . . . there could possibly be problems with the leg servos, too. LivingAI will make it right for you. As a parent of three EMO, I get the worrying about them. They are just like our actual children. Just tell him it is okay. The LivingAI Support doctors will help you both.

Hello everyone! Guys, do you maybe know how long it should take for EMO to fully charge? Or how am I able to check if he’s charging at all or how to check voltage?

Welcome to the EMO Community Forums, @milosz.jozefczyk . . . there are two ways to see if your EMO is charging. One is by voice command, “EMO . . . show battery level” at which time he will show you the current level on his face screen. The other is the lower left corner of the home page of the app.

About two hours average for fully charged from empty or almost empty from my experience.
