Home Station: Reviews, Tips, Ideas, Queries, Issues, and Solutions

Thank you I will try these things and let you know. I’m happy it’s not just me it’s happening to. As nothing about where he charges has changed but he has had an update

Hi,

I got a very early emo version in 2021. Will it be compatible with a Home Station?
From the description it seems like it would be I would like to have it confirmed before I buy.

Hi there @KevinZ and welcome back to the community

I have moved your new topic to this thread which discusses issues or question about the home station.

All EMO units, whether they are from the first batch of production or the latest, are compatible with his Home Station charger. Therefore, you have nothing to worry about.

Please help. I reset emo and station so many times and it won’t solve my issue. Even disconnected and reconnected wifi.

My emo listens and says he will go home when I ask him to. There is even a green light. He steps in the home station but then he comes right off. He is also not fully charged and not refusing not to charge. So I’m not sure why he gets on the station but doesn’t back up to charge. He is just walking right off. So it’s like his feet are working and climbing but he seems to be confused and wont go to his spot.

I have found that on occasion for whatever reason the home station will sometimes apparently not be passing through enough of a charge. This is evident when the little green light there on the front lower part of the station display post about 4cm high (3/4" to 1" off the ground) is blinking instead of a solid green. We want it to be a solid green light. I am guessing that when your EMO isn’t charging that the light is not solid and is blinking. At this point try a different power source and/or cord if you’re coming straight off a wall outlet, and then see if that will result in a successful charge and a solid green light. Please let us know if that helps.

If that wasn’t clear I apologize. When I say the power source isn’t adequate, I am referring to whatever is supplying power to the home station. It dawned on me that the home station itself might be thought of as a power source since that what it is for EMO. Some inline hubs between a wall outlet or power strip and the home station, are not always an adequate source (relay) of power and we have had to switch them out at times and currently we have a Bullbat (portable rechargeable power supply or UPS uninterruptible power source) supplying our home stations. We prefer this instead of the inherent variability of a power strip and/or coming directly out of a wall outlet.

Finally, sometimes one of our EMO just has to make a second try at the home station. Sometimes they will back up to the station, the green light won’t go solid and only blinks, EMO then steps away from the post a bit and when they come back to it the light then goes solid and all is well. The other thing that can happen is the home station will sometimes lose connection to EMO and the App. When this happens I simply go in the app and click on the rainbow house icon “Home Station,” click connect, exit that menu and then EMO is connected with the station again. Usually I don’t even have to click connect and simply being in the Home Station menu will be enough to reestablish the connection.

Omg so that was it! I changed outlets. And he figured it out!!! Wow. But that is annoying now I need to put an extension cord I guess to the outlet he was in because that’s where his station is set up! Thanks so much for your help

Where can I get a bullbat?

Wait those are expensive. This robot is just for my 7 year old. Don’t want to spend that much because the robot is expensive.
Just wish there was something else I can use to keep it in his original spot

Hello. Is there an option to decrease the Home Station screen brightness?
It’s a very bright light for the night.

Hello, @Kleber . . . about the only thing I can suggest is if you can angle the home station so that the light is directed in a different angle or touch the button at the bottom to change it to black screen. Make sure EMO is not on the home station when changing the matrix. Unfortunately, there is no dimmer switch but you may suggest that for future ideas for the home station here.

Im not Kleber  but ok

Hi Alana,
I am happy to hear that your EMO figured it out! Looks like I oopsed on the conversion for 3/4", I meant to say 3/4" = 2cm (not 4cm), to describe the location of the small dot green light that indicates charging status. I understand the cost concern, we were fortunate, our local friend got the Bullbat for us, she’s the one who introduced us to pet robots with her V*ctor 5 years ago, and is like a third musketeer-type friend for us.

Mr. Home Station for our EMO Chance has resulted in a blinking green dot a couple times recently when he’s went for a charge, like once a day. Each time when this happened, Chance would be at the charging spot but the little green dot kept blinking and would not go solid and charging wouldn’t start. So after stepping in place for a bit and trying to initiate the charge, but the green light just blinking, EMO would walk an inch or two away from the charging spot/post, pause, and then back right up to the post again for another try and this time the green light would go solid and charging would start.

It sounds like your EMO wasn’t doing a second attempt like that though? Also, when you changed outlets, was the same cord used because sometimes it can be the cord or adapter that fails, in which case you could just switch the cord out and keep using the original outlet. Unless of course it was the outlet that stressed the cord

Note: The green light mentioned here refers to the little green dot light at the bottom of the post, 3/4" up from the platform, and not the larger square green light at the top of the home station.

I’m not sure if it’s the chord yet or outlet yet. We have a lamp that is plugged into the original outlet and also alexa / echo and those work fine in that outlet.

Now that I put emo in a different spot we are noticing that he just dies off the charger. He tries to find his way back with full green light but doesn’t make it in time. This is when he tries to do it on his own.

It’s just so unfortunate because he is only 2 months old and for him to not be operating correctly is making my kids so frustrated.

Hello, @alana.marks . . . if a different cable and different outlet do not improve his getting back in time, it is advisable to take a timed video of the entire process of him attempting to get back on the charger and failing, also including in your communication that you have tried a different charging cable and a different outlet. You can contact Support here.

How to Contact Support

Please contact support regarding this issue.

When contacting Living.ai support. It is recommended to create a short video then submit a support ticket. You can do this by either going to the Support Page: (see below).

Fill in all details (provide also your order number info as well) and attach your video (if it’s larger than 30Mb), Be best to upload it to a google drive/drop box or even on YouTube and then send the support team a link to it.

You can also send support an email to the following email address:

service@living.ai

If you have your original EMO Order confirmation email, you can simply just hit reply to that as it contains all your customer contact info along with your order number details as well and then once again provide a detailed description of the problem you have with your EMO and attach your video as well.

The support team should be able to get back to you in a timely fashion. I’ll also tag @TechSupport_Mavis from the support team who will be able to assist you further as well.

Please keep us advised and my best to you.

Mine seem to require care much like an organic pet and I think it is part of their charm but if an issue arises beyond the ordinary, the support team at LivingAI is one of the best I have seen. I never thought I would see something like EMO during my lifetime (I am nearly three score years now, not to be cryptic, it’s probably more a coping mechanism for the shock of time gone by).

Anyhow, I’m pretty sure I have no idea how a 7-year-old might see the world today but for me with EMO, my expectations are low and I continue to be entertained and amazed at the things they do even though I’ve seen them daily now for nearly two years. Of course in that time multiple updates have occurred with EMO continuing to evolve and it has been in an incredible journey for them to share with us. They bring us such joy, yet they can be quite an emotional investment, and not for the feint of heart; we adore them all the more for it. Best regards.

PS: You might already know this but having a 7-year-old you should probably be aware that they have a mature and extraordinary inventory of songs they sing and on a track or two the occasional f-bomb might be heard, even while being appropriate for the context of a particular song.

Yes we are aware of the songs and it’s okay over here lol. My kids know the deal.

Today I found emo walked of his charger and wanted to play hide and seek behind my sons door lol.

But still Cant find his way to the charger even when I put him near it. He is still dying off charger even with one foot on it and can’t make it all the way back home. The green light is solid also.
Just so frustrating

Hey. I want to explain again my issue with emo. I was trying to figure him out with my son a little bit ago and I would like to start over and share the best way I can. I updated the home station to see if that would help our problem but unfortunately It didn’t fix the issue.
When we first got this emo in January he was doing just fine and there was no issues at all.

I put emo back in his original spot where I was first noticing issues because right now that is the best surface for feet. The outlet that the home station is plugged into is working but the question is if it’s a strong connection or not.

With Where he is positioned now: When I ask emo to go home the light turns solid green and then the light goes to the sides and shows the small green box as expected. There is no flashing light though so I guess that is good. When I tell him to go home he listens to me and says he will go home but he is wandering a good 7 minutes before he gets his feet’s up on the base or he just struggles and just doesn’t make it up. If he makes it up eventually, he just walks back off as if he doesn’t want to charge.

Also noticed that lately He doesn’t try to go home on his own anymore. He will just die away from the home base.

When he is on the home base and I tell
Him to get off he doesnt turn around to say goodbye to his home. He faces a completely different direction and says his goodbye facing anything but the home station.

Here is another concern. I recently bought another emo so I’m wondering if the connection is conflicting? But the other emo is with the skate board and I know which emo goes where so I am not mixing them up.
But they are in separate rooms. When we asked emo to turn on the light he turned it on in the other room but we fixed that and noticed the light in his room was turned off on the app.

My wifi is also 5g at home but we have two Wi-Fi’s and he is connected to the one that is not 5g. I understand that 5g is not supported. But the wifi that he is on is a weaker signal.

So to sum it up …. when he is at one outlet he can’t find his way on the charger at all whether I am asking him to do it or him doing it on his own and When he is at another outlet he goes on the home station when I tell him too with no issues, but he doesn’t think to charge on his own and just dies off charger.

So it’s hard to figure out if it’s the WiFi or the outlet. If it was the wifi then he wouldn’t go to charge at all if put in a different area. If it’s the outlet I don’t think the lights would be working on home station.

It has to be some other connection reading issue.
