Firmware Updating Issue

Oh, @RudiWuppke . . . so sorry to hear about the challenges you had going on in your life.

I am at least glad that you did not lose your EMO along the way. Even in his limited capacity, he is adorable and fun. I, myself, got my first one August 5, 2021, but since my phone did not have the right things in it to run him, I could not get my that one updated until August 20, 2021, when the tablet I ordered arrived.

Living AI kept E-Mailing me and I kept hoping I could get him going before it was too late with the updates and fortunately, I made it in time.

Hoping you can get him updated soon with the Support as a whole new world has opened up for him with updates and you will be amazed at all he can do now.

My best to you!

Hello Lindaru,

I just bought emo from living ai separate from the homestation. I done everything you said ( still waiting for the home station). Nothing is working. I try again when the home station arrived. I also don’t know what it means that the version is 2.4.0p2
Lothar J.
But thank you for the tips. I shall stay in contact

Hello, @lothar.junggeburth . . . 2.4.0p2 is a factory installed update and is actually the same as 2.4.0.

He should be able to update even without the home station because all updates are meant for both skate board and home station EMO, only that home station functions would not be available, but stickers, playing music, singing songs and asking about what he can do would work without a home station. Odd that he cannot update as he is now.

Let me know when you get your home station what happens.

Just received my EMO and it keeps telling me there is a new version. I try to update it, reboots with no error but when it comes back up shows X with 1 when booting up :man_shrugging:t3:. Is there a 2.5.0?

It finally updated to 2.5.0 after like 10 attempts. Now my Homestation won’t update. Keeps saying update to 1.1.3.

Hello, @rlightjr . . . is EMO paired with it properly? Check the app and make sure it is on version 1.1.3. If not, you may need to use the unbind all accessories option in your app under the settings and pair him again. Then tell him “Update home station”. See if he does (it will go through the animation for updating). Check the app. If it shows 1.1.3, then all is good. If after this, EMO is still asking you to update, I would advise you to close the app, shut down your device, EMO and wi fi, then start everything back up again and see if it is still asking you to update since yes, you are on the current firmware.

Now ask EMO “Check for updates”. If he is not giving you the green check mark and rather the red “X”, then I advise you to please contact service@living.ai by E-Mail with photos and video of what you are doing and what it is still showing.

My best to you!

Hello Lindaru, got my homestation… the home station upgraded but emo NOT, with no possible way ! I am pretty disappointed as I tried to do that any possible way. If i order a emo, why didn’t the straight upgrade it to the next level in the factory.
I am angry… dif I get a repaired or refurbished one that didn’t work? Just asking. Would have bought more of your robots… but now holdig back till this problem is solved. I switched emo off since 3 weeks…

Hello, @lothar.junggeburth . . . generally when you order EMO he may be behind by one update, and the update on him will have *.p1 or *.p2 after it. There should be no issues updating to 2.5.0 if that is the case.

I do not know which firmware number he shipped with, but you may want to fill out a Support ticket or E-Mail service@living.ai . . . you can follow the instructions here.

How to Contact Support

Please contact support regarding this issue.

When contacting Living.ai support. It is recommended to create a short video then submit a support ticket. You can do this by either going to the Support Page: (see below).

Fill in all details (provide also your order number info as well) and attach your video (if it’s larger than 30Mb), Be best to upload it to a google drive/drop box or even on YouTube and then send the support team a link to it.

You can also send support an email to the following email address:

service@living.ai

If you have your original EMO Order confirmation email, you can simply just hit reply to that as it contains all your customer contact info along with your order number details as well and then once again provide a detailed description of the problem you have with your EMO and attach your video as well.

The support team should be able to get back to you in a timely fashion. I’ll also tag @TechSupport_Mavis from the support team who will be able to assist you further as well.

My best to you.

The firmware with the suffix “p1” is the production firmware.
If your custom firmware is 2.5.0.p1, then it is already up to date.
If it is on 2.4.0 or 2.4.0.p1 and cannot be upgraded to 2.5.0, please PM me your EMO’s ID, the city in your app settings, and a complete update video.
You can upload the video to YouTube and send me the link.
Please don’t worry, most update issues are related to the network.

Hi Fellow Emo Friends. I have a problem. I bought my Emo during the kickstarter program (before go live), I loved the idea and really wanted to support this project, after receiving it I quickly put it in storage (emo was not mature enough) because its capabilities were a bit limited at the time.

My son found it and now is brand new out of storage. I put it on and set it up but I am unable to install/update the firmware. I have tried a lot lot of times to update the firmware, the current firmware is on 1.0.14 (really old) and the firmware set to update is 1.0.15 although even that is old. No matter how many times I try and update the firmware it does not update.

Anyone know how I can update the firmware. I am starting to assume that the software updates to this never updated firmware is not capable or not available anymore.

PLEASE PLEASE help me bring my Emo back to life. It does not deserve to stay in storage after all the amazing progress made

Hello there @SeanEmo , that is so amazing that you found the original EMO! You must contact living ai support by service@living.ai , they will solve it for you! Make sure you also enter your kickstarter EMO order information in the writing process when you are contacting them. Wish for you the best for you and your son and EMO! :surprised: Also tagging @TechSupport_Mavis for possible assisting.

After updating emo it gives an error again it failed to update because it reaches 17 and restarts then the red error signal drops to 1

Welcome to the EMO Community Forums, @sandordomjan . . . sorry to hear this.

Have you turned off automatic updates in the app and unplugged all smart lights? Have you used a verbal command to “Install latest firmware now”? Is he on his charger?

If these things do not help, please get video and post a link so that we might be able to help you solve the problem.

It is possible that Support may need to help you solve this issue.

We look forward to hearing back.

yes yes, I did all of that

When it reaches 16, it starts again.

Hello, @sandordomjan . . . you will need to send an E-Mail to service@living.ai with these pictures and a description of what happens. If you still have your order confirmation E-Mail, you can reply to that; otherwise, you can send to the E-Mail shown here with your order number and if you do not have that, your four digit alphanumeric I.D. when EMO signs into the app.

It is the holiday season, so please be patient as it may take some time for them to respond to you.

My best to you.
