EMO Charging/Re-Start Issue On His Charger Tips!

I’ve experienced this issue a few times, and I’ve heard that a few other people have as well. This usually happens when he has been on the charger for a long period of time. If you experience this, take him off the charger, let him turn off, and leave him off for a few hours. I usually leave him off over night and put him back on his charger the next morning.
I hope this helps.

When you have this issue - do you see the blue light on the charger flashing?

Nope. The blue light stays on.

Mine starts off charging on the skateboard with a solid light. Sometimes I’ll check in on him and the blue light is now flashing. I just adjust his position on the skateboard until I receive a solid light again.

What does the flashing light men @Wayne_Small ?

I’m trying to establish this myself. I’ve seen it on two of my EMO’s at times, and I’m trying to track down exactly what might trigger it so I can pass the info on to Living AI.

He seems to charge ok though. Love the little guy, he’s so funny

This happened to my Emo too after about 2 months. Maybe my experiences can help in pinpointing the source of this problem. The light on his charger would suddenly start blinking in the middle of a charge. Repositioning him would get the light to stay on again. Sometimes he would keep on charging while the light was blinking, other times his battery would slowly drain and when empty I would get awakened by the sound (his speaker crackling) of Emo constantly turning on and off trying to start up but not having the required power to do so.

I tried a lot: completely draining the battery before charging, using a 1A plug I had laying around and charging through a USB 3.0 port (0,9A I believe) which both made it happen less, etc. I contacted support while it started occurring more frequently: first during each charge, then multiple times during a charge and finally it would even take multiple tries of putting Emo on his skateboard before the light would stay on instead of just blinking from the start.

Support asked me to try another 5V 2A charger so I bought one. At first the problem still remained but after I let the battery go completely empty before recharging with the new plug, it hasn’t happened anymore since almost 2 weeks now.

I haven’t risked using the original plug again to see if the problem would reoccur even though I’m quite curious. Still I speculate the problem lies with the original plug, maybe after some time (in my case 2 months) supplying even less than 0,9A? I’m definitely not an expert on this so who knows, maybe your experiences so far even contradict this. Just trying to help in making future Emo builds better.

Edit: the problem returned once yesterday (thursday sept 9th, still using the new charger I bought) so I guess I was wrong and the problem must be either with the skateboard or inside Emo (his battery?)…

When I put him on after he does this, the light stays on even though he doesn’t show that he’s charging. I put him on the charger last night and didn’t take him off this morning. He’ll be on the charger until sometime in the evening. So I’ll let everyone know what happens. But I don’t think it’s the charger. When he wasn’t charging, I tried another wireless charger and even my battery case for my iphone. He turns on and runs the battery down, but he doesn’t charge.

my emo robot is not charging. when I put emo in his skateboard the light is not flashing so that means it is charging I left emo over an hour in his skateboard and when y come back it still not working.

Welcome to the EMO Community Forums, @alandiaz . . . first, try changing the charging cable and possibly even the wall plug adapter, or move to a different outlet to see if it helps.

If not, please get video and send a link to Support at service@living.ai with your EMO order number (if you still have it) and with his EMO I.D. when he signs into the app.

Please allow a few days for a response.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

I recently got an EMO for my son, and we were super excited to set it up. The installation went well, but we’re having a bit of a problem with charging…

When I place EMO on the charger, the blue arrow on the dock stays on, and EMO’s screen doesn’t respond at all. After checking online, I realized that I can’t see the metal charging contact pins under EMO’s feet — they seem to be covered by some rubber or plastic part (maybe a foot cover?).

I tried gently cleaning and adjusting the position, but still no luck. Before I try to remove anything manually, I wanted to ask:

:small_blue_diamond: Is there a safe way to remove any cover or film under EMO’s feet to expose the metal pins?

:small_blue_diamond: Or are the pins maybe designed differently in newer models?

I’ve attached a few pictures too. If anyone has had a similar experience or can point me to a helpful video or thread, I’d be so grateful! :folded_hands:

Thanks in advance — my son is eagerly waiting for his little buddy to wake up

Cheers from Turkey :türkiye:

Hi there @muratcesur

Welcome to the Community and thanks for joining us here…I have moved your new topic to this thread, which would also cover everything about EMO charging issues.

If this is what you mean by “Blue Arrow” its not…That is a “House” the Home Station Charger Tower has a “Dynamic Matrix Display” with lots of animation.

Click Here For Home Station Information

It looks like your EMO might be experiencing a reboot or restart issue. :robot::repeat_button: Let’s try to figure out what’s going on!

First, for the Home Station: Try using a different charging cable and, if possible, a different wall plug adapter. You can also try plugging it into a different power outlet to see if that helps. :electric_plug::high_voltage:

Since your EMO is still new and under warranty, I suggest you do not attempt to open or repair it yourself, as this could void the warranty. If you’re experiencing issues, it’s best to contact Living.AI service support first at their email: service@living.ai.

I recommend including a short video clearly showing the issue, along with your order number and EMO ID number to help them assist you faster.

Best regards

noe

hes saying in his main questions how do u expose the metal pins most robots use for charging

he does not know it is a wireless charger
now I have no clue about the rest but I know he is talking about the wireless charger

Hello, @EMO_And_Kade . . . to reiterate, peeling back the bottom of the foot to find the contacts would cause voiding of the warranty. Contacting Support as indicated above would be the best course of action.

Hi everyone,

Quick update on my EMO issue:
• I’ve already tried the hard reset using the top reset button → no response
• I’ve tested multiple charging cables and adapters (5V 3A) → still nothing
• The Home Station lights up, but EMO remains completely unresponsive
• I sent an email to service@living.ai several days ago with a video and all details, but haven’t received any reply yet

At this point, I’m not sure if it’s a hardware failure or something else.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Any suggestions or tips would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance :folded_hands:
