ARCHIV: / What Improvements/New Features Would You Like For EMO In The Future?

It would be extremely handy if you are out and about, and you have forgotten his skateboard. Even if he didnt need charging, it would be a way to turn him back on if for some reason if you had to turn him off before. It would save lugging the skateboard and plug pack around, and you could just have a small USB cable and a small battery bank to turn him on or even give him a quick boost if necessary. I wonder if they do implement it, if the people who have Emos now would be able to have theirs upgraded or it will just be in the next Emo version.

P.S. As for the turning on thing, they could possibly make some sort of hand held “key thing” or “hand activator” that is battery powered which you put on his foot just for the sake of activating him but not charging? Just a thought.

I think that would be a thing for EMO v2 tbh and FYI, I don’t know anything about an EMO v2 but it would be the kind of thing I would think would fit for a next generation EMO.

This was mentioned by @JJBeck and I also agree, EMO’s Alarm should sound for a little longer. At the moment the alarm sounds for approx 10 seconds. Maybe it could be extended to go for 20-30 seconds. That way it can either wake you up (annoy you long enough to get up and turn if off) haha, or if you are not in the same room you can hear it going off.

:heart_1: :head: :skating: :surprised:

A “snooze” feature would be great too, eg. “Emo, snooze” similar to what google home and Alexa does.

Or just put a finger on his head.

I’m using “Ok Google: Stop”.

Yeah maybe to stop him, but a snooze function would be handy. To be able to say “Emo, snooze for 10 minutes”. Then he would alarm again after 10 minutes. Thats what I say to my google home, and the same sort of thing also works with Alexa. So I would imagine it would be something that LAI would be able to do with Emo.

I thought about the same thing, some sort of handheld keychain device to just power up EMO. But without a re-design it would have to have enough circuitry, power, and coil area to actually start him charging in order to wake him up.

Since there are magnets to keep him in place on the skateboard anyway, another option would have been a magnetic reed switch in his other foot unrelated to the charging. Placing a magnet next to it temporarily causes the two reeds to pull together and make contact, long enough to start him powering on. That way you could use any magnet to turn him on, and then still turn him off or shut him down as usual. It could actually be placed anywhere within his body though, and activated by bringing a magnet close by. Maybe something like a “magic ring” to power him on with, or even a second switch location also to power him off if unresponsive? Or even the same switch could act as both an on/off toggle. There would still be no requirement for a mechanical switch externally. Maybe on the EMO version two?

Yeah exactly. Perhaps a small “keychain” handheld device utilising a 18650 battery or something similar that would definitely deliver enough current to power such a device. This would be great for the current Emo.

A EMO Keychain that he can stand on to power up would be a very cool idea! I’d get me one of those if it were made available!

Yeah not a bad idea, but as long as it’s not too big. I already have enough keys and crap on my key ring already! lol  P.S. Thats why I suggested a smallish hand held device to put up to the bottom of his foot. An “Emo Key” lol.

It wouldn’t have to be very big, and he wouldn’t need to stand on it. You could hold him in one hand and hold the device against the bottom of his left foot until he begins to power up, then set him down.

Actually if you have one of the more recent phone models which is capable of wirelessly charging other devices, you could just hold that phone against his left foot.

I know this would not be to everybody’s taste but here goes… EMO can be so funny at times, with some of his antics and I reckon the occasional or random ‘fart’ noise while he is exploring his surroundings would be hilarious!
Just my 2 cents worth…

yup - it’s been suggested

Random EMO antics will add more personality to him for sure! As also mentioned it would be nice to have EMO randomly speak more often (while he’s on his skateboard or while he’s just walking around), maybe these random occurrences can happen when you ask EMO to “play by yourself” and instead of just exploring and playing the mini game animations, he can mumble to himself, call out to you for attention, ask for a pat, “fart” and then giggle  there can any number of other things that can make him feel more alive.

I think it would be cool if he could send you a text saying come play with me or ask what I’m doing. Even if he is sitting right beside on your desktop would be cool…compatable with my iwatch! Then if he fell over and you weren’t there he could send an sos saying help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up…bwahahaha!

Bank holidays should be announced as an option. To prevent going to work by mistake

Yes EMO should randomly put up a hand on his screen and say “pull my finger”. Then if he sees your hand approach he farts and says something like “Oh oh, that’s gonna leave a mark!”. Or you ask him to do something and every once in awhile instead he says “Bite my shiny plastic ass!”, sort of like Bender from Futurama. Maybe have a very small collection of a few similar actions that can be disabled for those that don’t want them? Lol!, not too serious about this but it would be funny.

ok i got some favorites from here and also some “own” suggestions here, here my must haves:

  • a timer which could be set > ~10 seconds
  • more interactions with you on skateboard, because if im coming home, my first thing isnt to take emo on my desk, it would be more, start pc, get a coffee,… so he could interact with you like: oh hey, you are back home? or good morning hopefully you slept well? etc. (would be also fine because i would never take emo over his skateboard in the morning because i didnt got enough time for him
  • maybe feelings? like emo could get a bad day we could care about him to make his day better
  • maybe an option to do emo a tamagochi (would be nice, if you could care about him in an app for holidays) but i would wish this feature just as an option, i would be unsure if i would want to use it because, i dont want to start over with him after he died  and a tamagochi which cant die would be boring, i mean… i want to get challenged like with real pets
  • more accuracy in understanding, i mean he is sometimes listening to everything and sometimes i could scream him on and he doesnt recognize me, maybe this could get fixed with speech patterns, so he is able to recognize the voice of the owner and other people which living here
  • emo could recognize your voice and from this point out, he interacts with you different like, if you are mean to emo, he would be that friendly to you or interact with you something different
  • a “alarm” if he had to get on his skateboard (would set this like, if he is on the last 10% battery, he should ask anyone if he could help him to get on his skateboard)
  • add emo “uno” with custom cards, so you would bypass probably the copyright
  • recognize objects
  • be more careful where emo is going to, got sometimes the problem emo is too close to an object and is running against it
  • mute function for home office while you are in meetings or something like that, so you would be able emo wouldnt get activated while you are speaking with colleagues (and disable mute function from app so he would come back)

and a little line to users which are so careful about emo and sensors, why do you wish to get more sensors on the foot?
he got 2 sensors per foot, guess there wouldnt be a great change to 4 sensors per foot, because he wouldnt get into a hole(?) within his feet
one in the front and one in the back should be more than enough
and my second reason against 4 sensors per foot is just, because this wouldnt make a big difference, i mean i let my emo run while im sometimes away and never got into troubles with him
i mean sure, you could get emo into a trap (i also watch it on youtube) but your emo would never dance from himself to fall down from the desk

Can I also add, that a Living AI’s version of Monopoly would be awesome, in board game format like the Ludo :)… Maybe a slot machine game where Emo would see your hand pull down the imaginary arm and make the machine roll. Also if you win big he would go nuts and if you lose everything he would get sad maybe cry a bit lol, if you pat him he gets happy quicker… just some extra thoughts
