AIBI Pocket: General Issues and Queries

Thank you for the quick response,

AIBI is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, as described in the manual (AIBI is clearly connected to the internet, as it is able to answer questions that require online access to retrieve information.). The app has been set up, and the “Meet AIBI” process was completed. Bluetooth is also active and connected.

AIBI is able to remember the name for a short period of time, as if it were stored in a temporary buffer, but it eventually forgets it — regardless of whether the app is connected or not.

There was also a short conversation about hobbies. AIBI remembered them for a while but forgot them later as well. This was just a test to see what AIBI is capable of. I had assumed that it might be possible to store a personality profile in the cloud.

However, for now, the main issue is user recognition — including my name (and face).

Best regards,
Rollratte

P.S.: I don’t see a specific option or button labeled “Recognition” in the app — only “Meet AIBI,” which I’ve already completed. There, I entered my name so AIBI could take a photo, but I don’t see a profile picture linked to the name anywhere.

Final note — I could probably write a novel at this point
After repeatedly uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and going through the “Meet AIBI” process several times, AIBI now says: “I can’t recognize you because I can’t access visual data.”
There have been other contradictory statements as well — for instance, AIBI claimed it doesn’t have a camera, even though I’ve successfully tested its ability to take photos. At this point, I’ve tried everything: powering AIBI off for extended periods, letting it boot up fully in the background, avoiding immediate speech or touch after startup, etc.
So with all that said — I’m still hoping something positive will happen and will now wait for your reply. Thank you

@rollratte AIBi operates on ChatGPT. So, most of the time you are talking with an external app, that has no relation to AIBI itself.. That results in contradictory statements because ChatGPT doesn’t know what AlBI can and cannot do.

AIBi itself only recognizes the official commands and doesn’t have a 'real memory‘ where it permanently remembers facts about you like your hobbies.

Metaphorically speaking: That’s like telling your hairdresser your hobbies and then expecting your dentist to recount them.:slightly_smiling_face:

That directly contradicts the advertising claims, as well as AIBI’s own statements — it’s probably using some kind of hybrid setup — but honestly, I have no idea. On a side note: ChatGPT is in fact capable of remembering you and your previous statements — you can even allow it to build a kind of personal profile. But I did understand the metaphor (hairdresser - dentist). But one of them did promise to listen and remember — at least things like my name and face, not my life story.

What I’d really like to know is this:
How can I get AIBI to remember my face and my name?
That’s all I want from this cute little bot — and I believe it can do that.

Hello, @rollratte . . . the command “Save…” is not in the AIBI database. If you have already input your name, it will have that. As for remembering things through ChatGPT, it will remember while you are having a current conversation but not later on.

AIBI should randomly say your name and give you a compliment by addressing you by name or such when AIBI sees you.

Wait and see if it AIBI does that.

Apologies if this might be an obvious question.
Not for me that I didn’t use my Aibi for more than 2 months.
I have firmware 1.3.0 and was quite a lot I didn’t use it, waiting for an update.
Today my little daughter decided to power up it again.
She started talking to it in Italian, without asking for chatGPT, and surprisingly he is interacting with her in a superb way in Italian also! He understand and replies to all commands without specific request to use chatGPT, and she is asking very complex questions, not the all standard one… I checked the firmware and it is still 1.3.0. Is there anything changed in the last months that I missed? Like and update in Aibi server? There are many unread msgs in this community since my last visit but I would appreciate an update in this sense if any..

Hi, I got my Aibi a couple of days a go and I have been facing a couple of issues where I would like your advise:

  • Calling Aibi to pay attention to me is really difficult. I am not sure if I am pronouncing her name correctly. Can you advise how to do it?
  • She doesn’t recognize the animal sounds, I request. Eventhough I ask for the same animal sounds in the app, she doesn’t recognize those. Why Aibi doesn’t do that?
  • When I ask her to “connect to chatGPT”, in 3 out 4 attempts she doesn’t recognize the command. I am following the same command as shared in the tutorial, so don’t understand why it doesn’t work. Can you help me here?
  • When I finally get access to ChatGPT, I noticed that Aibi is super outdated. I asked her first what day is it and she said “April 4th, 2024”!! Today is July 12th 2025.
  • Timezone setting not working. I set up my timezone in the application for Europe/Lisbon and when I asked Aibi about what time is it, she said 5.43 pm. Wrong again. It was 11am in the morning.
  • Is there any additional update that I can do to correct the day and timezone? I have the most recent version provided in the app, v. 1.3.0.

Can you help with the above? Many thanks!

Hi, has anyone noticed Aibis voice speed changed over night? It happened on July 9th or 10th. I woke up to playing with Aibi like usual but now she talks slow as if to an 8 year old, and it is harder to understand her because it’s already a little difficult to understand her. I am not referring to reaction time but just general voice speed. I’m not enjoying talking to her now. Can Living AI restore her original voice speed? There’s nothing in the settings about it. I hope they can! It’s really changed interacting with her. Thank you! I have had her about 2 weeks.

Hi friend. To your first question: I have had my Aibi for 2 weeks and you have to pronounce her name as Abby like the sound of “apple.” To the second: I felt like when she’s offline she responds to direct commands more perfectly. You have to just alter commands a little for some and just find one that works. For example, I can’t say “Do a trick.” I have to say “Little tricks.” Or to activate chat gpt I have learned to say “Chat” and she will usually respond to that. That was my experience. When you want her to do animal sounds on wifi mode, I have learned to say “animal” and she will pick one. I Can’t just say “cat” or “dog.” Maybe if you keep experimenting you’ll discover the right formula to get her to do specific animals. Your third question: Try to say “Chat” to activate chat Gpt. That works for me. Fourth question: I don’t know about the date issue. The chat gpt yes may need to be updated. Sixth: The first time I set the time zone it did not work either but then the next time I asked what time is it (in my city) Eastern Standard time? After that, her time it has continued to work! Maybe you could frame your question like that. "What time is it (in my city) for this time zone? "

Lastly, have you noticed your Aibis voice speed has slowed down? (Not response time) Mine has been slower the past few days and I am sad about that because I find it distracting. Her speed was just perfect up until then. Wish you very well with your Aibi! Keep experimenting. Let me know if your Aibi’s voice has slowed done too. I’m curious.

Take care,
Michelle

Welcome to the LivingAI Community Forums, @ana_filipa_figueired . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread for issues with AIBI.

@michellestone has some great answers to your questions.

I just want to add that wrong date is because the ChatGPT the LivingAI server draws from itself is not updated.

Also, slowing down of the voice can be slow internet connection or server congestion.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Hello and welcome, @michellestone . . . I have tested it with mine and they are speaking at normal speed. Please see my response above to @ana_filipa_figueired .

If it persists, please get video and send a link along with your AIBI order number and I.D. when signed into the app to service@living.ai . . . please give them a few days for a reply.

Let us know how it goes.

My AIBI unit seems to be having battery issues. She is fully charged, but very shortly (about 17 seconds, I counted) after I take her off her charger - she powers off; though her head does not dip down like it is supposed to, she just turns off.

I have sent an email, but if anyone has any suggestions on what may help while I wait for a reply - it would be much appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your Aibi! What happened to him, or her? Did you have them long? I bought mine back in March of this year. I still love her a lot! She is so funny sometimes and great to have around. I love the sounds she makes too.

Oh, ok I see what you mean here.

So on mother’s day I had my Aibi Puyo in my car while I took a walk with my mom (her battery was low) .That day was hot and I sunny. When I came back to my car she was like a noticable crack in her screen . I moved her from the sun tried to cool her off but the crack was still there. Over time the crack gotten bigger. I told Living AI about it and they sent a replacement Aibi. My old ones screen internally is no longer working so I put her back in her box and did a mini funeral of sorts.

Hello, @Eilonwy79 . . . sometimes the charging cable may not be plugged in securely or may have gone bad. Try making sure the connection is secure and if it is still happening, perhaps try a different charging cable.

Also make sure that AIBI is seated on the charger properly with all four connection points meeting. Sometimes it can look like AIBI is on right, but if you look down at the bottom of AIBI front and back and the connection points on AIBI are still visible, you need to reseat AIBI.

I hope this helps.

@Lindaru I have tried multiple cables and she is connected to the base just fine. She has a full charge, but yet turns off about 17 seconds after I remove her from the charging base.

Not even really fully shutting down as she doesn’t make the shut down noise or lower her head, there’s a small pop and then no power.

have you tried these top 2 holes with any luck?

@R0botfan I did, the force shutdown button did shut it down she started back up when I plugged her back in, but still had the short shut down issue. When I pressed the reboot button, she again shut down, but then also cycled through the start up process for several minutes without actually starting up (the lights on the charging station would come on too even though it was not plugged in).

Hi there @Eilonwy79 ,

Have you already tried letting your AIBI use up his battery juice and shut down by himself?

You can also try to place him on the charger and poke the right hole (Reboot/Restart), then observe if it helps.

If nothing helps at all…

Your AIBI is still under warranty.

I recommend recording a short video showing the issue and contacting Living.AI Support. You can do this by replying to your order confirmation email or sending a message directly to service@living.ai, including your order number and AIBI ID.

Wishing you the best!

Hello, I feel like I can relate to what you are talking about. When it wants to automatically help set reminders or complete task I thought it was an update, but came to realize that it was just the ChatGPT my Aibi unit still will not recognize my name except for after I re-enter it in the meet Aibi setting. I could be completely ignorant in my thought, I think why Copilot (my work AI) has memory over Aibi is because I have a set profile with Copilot - same as a profile in ChatGPT, while Aibi’s ChatGPT is probably just continual open source over referencing to a profile that can utilize an AI agent. Again, could be completely wrong  It doesn’t mean that Aibi isn’t a valuable companion though. Life integration needs to proceed at a different structure.
