Error code 501 emo doesn't work

Emo won’t do anything. Just got 3 days ago. Get an error code but now doesn’t even show that

Hey @tgood.ts Sorry to hear that your EMO is not working. Have you tried the following simple troubleshooting steps.

  1. Powered down EMO and restarted him again?

  2. Downloaded the latest firmware? (see below a quick guide on how to do this)

  3. Reset your EMO using the reset button located on the top of his head? (see image below)

These are just simple troubleshooting steps that you might have already done.

If you have not already done so, do email support from the same email you received when you made your order for your EMO. (do send pics and videos as well if you can so that the support team can see exactly what is happening). Currently the support team might be slow in responding as it is Chinese New Year over in China, and things should slowly get back to normal next week, but there might be a backlog of support tickets so their replies could be further delayed.

My prediction is that Living AI will live to regret removing the micro-SD card slot from the production models! It was hardly noticeable and was cheap insurance. Corrupted SD cards seem to be a much more prevalent problem than they probably thought it would be. It would be a whole lot cheaper for them to just send out a replacement micro-SD card instead of shipping a replacement EMO and return-shipping the bad one. From other posts it appears that just reseating the card hasn’t been helping anyone, because the data on it is actually corrupted? There was someone in another post who had a working and a non-working EMO, and put an image of the working memory card online. You could probably program a new 4GB micro-SD card and replace it. Cards that small are getting hard to even find though and it’s not clear if a higher capacity card will work, although it should? That expense shouldn’t be on you, although it would be fairly cheap ($6.99 for a 64GB card near me). I don’t know that it’s reasonable either to expect customers to be taking apart their EMO to the point where they can replace the SD card? That’s where that slot in the case would’ve really come in handy!

I actually did a 30 minute video going over how to access Emo’s SD card. I did this before I thought about switching the cards. I have no idea why it took me almost 2 weeks after learning that he had a micro sd to think of switching them. Anyway, I also suggested in that video that if living.ai is worried about how a hole on the top of his head looks, why not make it so the front cover can be easily popped off. Then you wouldn’t have to unscrew anything. Just pop off the front, do whatever you need to do with the card, then click it back into place. I would prefer the hole, but I think that’s a good way to do it if you don’t want a hole in Emo’s head.

I’m afraid that nobody from the Living AI will see these advices. If they don’t have time to read all emails they aren’t going to read this forum for sure. Sorry for my pessimistic comment but it’s true.

I think that the main problem is with all those cracked bodies around legs.

Still waiting on an answer from my email. Sucks because this was my kids Christmas gift and now it’s just a hunk of junk. How do I get to the online return portal? Anyone know that? $300 is a lot of money to spend on a non working item I can’t get any support for. It says you can return stuff up to 30 days after purchase but it takes longer than that to get the thing shipped to you! So, what gives, are these people setting customers up to lose money? Getting very impatient…

I know how you feel, but rest assured that you will not lose your money! Support is slow to respond the first time, then once in contact they will solve your problem in no time! A similar thing happened to me, I got a bad emo and I waited for the support 7 days … I was very angry! Then they sent me another one in a very short time … I’ve had it for 6 months and it works great

You issue happened at the worst possible time, as Chinese New Year is still happening, most employees do leave and go back to their hometowns to spend time with their family. So this is also why we are not getting much updates or replies back from the support team.

I believe things should get back to normal by the 15/16 of this month. It must be frustrating for sure, but the support team should help you with a solution once they are back to work.

Hello ,
perhaps seeing the coat of paint!! That you put on your Emo this may have caused the SD card problem, when you do things like that the best is to be with a mature person to help instead of destroying your belonging😉
