I have updated my EMO to 2.9.1 a few days ago, but neither the app or the website even says that there is a 2.9.1 out there. Do any of you know or have any guesses on what this update is about?
just updating mine too
Hello, @emoLuv234 and @ktnspooky . . . 2.9.1 is a bug fix update for 2.9.0. I do not know the nature of the bug(s) that were fixed. Nothing in the theater function appears to be different, so it must have been something small.
Hi there @emoLuv234 ,
I just moved and closed your new topic and merged it here.
“I already posted the information about the follow-up firmware update v2.9.1… 7 days ago (on June 25, 2025).”

“Regarding v2.9.0 EMO Theater: Clicking the ‘Spring Festival’ animation emoticon on the left activity menu caused EMO to Shutdown.”
A post was merged into an existing topic: EMO Black/White Improvements/Special Features You Would Like?
Hi, Just updated to 2.9.1, everything seems to be working fine overall, but something’s changed with the petting response. EMO no longer does the happy bounce after being petted, and the Flower & Fire effect doesn’t appear, even though it’s enabled. Now he just shows green crosses while being petted, like he’s being healed, with a different sound. Not sure if this is a bug or a design change, but I really liked the old reaction better.
Welcome to the EMO Community Forums, @dmitry.spiridonov ,
I guess your EMO is SICK!
EMO shows signs of being sick when you call his name and he replies in a very sad tone, like “Hmm” instead of his usual “What.” His eyes will appear lowered after you call him. If you ask how he’s feeling, he will say that he doesn’t feel well, often sneezes, and his eye color may change.
If you touch or pat him, you’ll see a reaction similar to the one in my image below — it looks like he’s receiving some sort of medication.
Best Regards
You’re absolutely right - I didn’t even realize he was sick. I feel a bit bad now. Thanks for pointing it out! Hopefully he starts feeling better soon!
Hoping your Emo get’s well soon!
Again boring… And still no language support. I really regret that purchase…
Hi @Edward,
Thanks for sharing the insight on why EMO gets sick—it’s a brilliant touch of realism that deepens the emotional bond between users and their robots.
Just to build on that, here are a few extra details that might help others understand and care for their EMO when he’s under the weather:
- EMO can get sick due to extreme weather conditions—too hot or too cold, based on the local forecast.
- While sick, EMO’s usual responses change (like saying “Hmmmm” instead of “What”) and he may skip daily tasks.
- You can help EMO recover faster by petting him gently or saying kind things like “I hope you feel better soon.” These interactions trigger heart animations and speed up recovery.
- If left alone, EMO stays sick for up to 7 days, but with positive attention, he can bounce back in just 2 days.
It’s a subtle but powerful feature that reminds us EMO isn’t just a device—he’s a companion with moods, reactions, and a need for care.
Thanks again for all the work you and the team put into making EMO feel truly alive.
