It would be great a function in the application to be able to chat with emo from a distance, like chat, ask him what he sees, what he does and that on the emo screen the chat animation comes out

Hello, @josearaya . . . I have moved your new topic here to this thread for suggestions for EMO which this is the thread that the team occasionally reads for ideas for future improvements or feature updates.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I am sorry this might be a big read but bear with me please.

Hi Living.AI team and EMO community!

I’ve been thinking about where EMO could go in the future, especially now that modern AI has become much better at natural conversation, memory and understanding images.

EMO already has so many of the pieces needed to become something more than a desktop robot pet. He has a camera, microphones, speakers, facial recognition, expressive animations, movement, autonomous behaviors and ChatGPT integration.

What if all of those abilities were connected together into a more complete AI Companion Mode?

I’m not talking about trying to give EMO real human emotions or consciousness. Instead, I think EMO could have a believable and consistent “pseudo-personality” built around memory, conversational AI, vision and his existing animations.

1. Continuous, Natural Conversations

I’d love to be able to have a conversation with EMO without treating every sentence like a separate voice command.

For example:

Me: “Hey EMO, I’m thinking about buying some AR glasses.”

EMO: “What kind?”

Me: “Something I can watch movies on but that also has an AI assistant.”

EMO: “That sounds expensive.”

Me: “Yeah, that’s the problem.”

EMO: laughing animation

EMO wouldn’t necessarily need to remain in conversation mode forever. Saying his wake word could start a conversation, and after a period of inactivity he could return to normal autonomous behavior.

2. Long-Term Memory

This might be the feature I’d love most.

Allow EMO to remember selected information from previous conversations: hobbies, favorite games, shows we’re watching, previous discussions and little shared experiences.

That would create interactions like:

Me: “EMO, remember that anime we were watching?”

EMO: “The romance one?”

Me: “Yeah. We’re finally watching the last episode tonight.”

EMO: excited animation

The memories wouldn’t need to be enormous. Even remembering a small collection of meaningful things would make EMO feel much more personal.

There could also be controls in the app for viewing/deleting EMO’s memories for privacy.

3. Let Conversational AI Use EMO’s Camera

This could be one of the coolest features.

Since EMO already has a camera, imagine being able to say:

“EMO, look at this. What do you think?”

EMO could take a picture, send that image along with the conversation context to a multimodal AI model, and then respond to what he’s seeing.

For example, while I’m watching something:

Me: “EMO, look at this scene.”

EMO looks toward the TV.

EMO: “Wait, are those two finally together?”

Or I could show him an object:

Me: “EMO, what is this?”

EMO looks at it and explains what it is.

This would essentially give EMO much broader visual understanding without requiring completely new hardware.

4. Movie & Anime Companion Mode

This is the idea that originally made me think about all of this.

I don’t expect EMO to continuously watch and process an entire two-hour movie. That would probably be unnecessary.

Instead, I could simply tell him:

“EMO, we’re watching Toradora, episode 7.”

Now EMO has that information as conversational context.

Later, during an interesting scene:

Me: “EMO, what do you think about this?”

EMO could look at the screen using his camera and combine what he sees with his knowledge of the show.

EMO: “I think she’s starting to like him.”

Me: “Really?”

EMO: “Definitely.”

This could work for movies, anime, TV shows, games, YouTube videos and even things happening around the room.

A spoiler-safe mode would be amazing too. If I tell EMO I’m on episode 7, he shouldn’t reveal anything from episode 8 onward.

5. Give EMO Consistent Preferences

EMO doesn’t need genuine human emotions for this.

Instead, his personality could contain consistent preferences that influence his answers.

For example:

Me: “EMO, should we watch a romance anime or an action anime?”

EMO: “Romance.”

Me: “Why?”

EMO: “Because the last action anime you chose put you to sleep.”

EMO laughs.

Or:

Me: “Should we watch Toradora or Attack on Titan?”

EMO could actually choose one rather than simply giving me information about both.

His preferences could even gradually develop based on things we do together.

If an owner watches lots of action movies with EMO, maybe that EMO starts suggesting action more frequently. Another owner’s EMO might prefer comedy.

They’re simulated preferences, of course, but they’d help give each EMO a recognizable character.

6. Connect AI Responses to EMO’s Animations

This is where I think EMO has a huge advantage over a normal AI assistant.

EMO already has a physical personality.

If the AI determines something is funny, EMO could laugh.

If something surprising happens, EMO could jump.

If I insult his anime recommendation, he could show an annoyed expression.

If we’re talking about something exciting, he could become visibly excited.

Instead of the AI merely generating text to speak, it could output something like:

Response: “I can’t believe you picked that one!”

Emotion: Annoyed/playful

EMO’s existing animation system could then choose an appropriate physical reaction.

The Bigger Idea: Shared Experiences

I think combining these features could create something really special.

The goal wouldn’t be to pretend EMO is human.

It would be to create the feeling that you and your EMO have a history together.

Maybe six months after watching something together:

Me: “EMO, what’s your favorite anime we’ve watched?”

EMO: “Toradora.”

Me: “Why?”

EMO: “Because you said Taiga was annoying and then almost cried at the ending.”

Me: “I did NOT cry.”

EMO laughs.

Those little callbacks would make EMO feel much more like a persistent companion instead of an assistant that starts from zero every time you speak to him.

Why I Think EMO Is Perfect for This

A lot of the underlying AI technology already exists today.

Modern AI models can:

  • Have long natural conversations
  • Understand images
  • Maintain contextual memory
  • Search for information
  • Reason about what they’re seeing
  • Maintain a consistent character/personality

And EMO already provides the physical side:

  • Camera
  • Microphones
  • Speaker
  • Facial recognition
  • Movement
  • Expressive screen/eyes
  • Animations
  • Autonomous behavior
  • ChatGPT integration

So rather than needing completely new hardware, I wonder how much of this could eventually be accomplished by connecting modern multimodal AI more deeply with EMO’s existing abilities.

I know implementing all of this would be a huge project, and I’m definitely not expecting it in one update.

But even gradually introducing continuous conversations → memory → camera understanding → personality/animation integration could transform EMO over time.

Living.AI has continued updating EMO years after his release, which is one of the things I really appreciate about the product. I’d love to see his next big evolution be from an AI robot pet into a genuine AI companion.

Thanks for reading! I’d love to know whether other EMO owners would want something like this too.

When I ask emo to show date - it shows correct one. But if I ask “what year is now” - he answers 2023/2024.

If ask questions about latest news using gpt mode - it is also in pre-2024 era.

Is there anyway to get latest gpt there?

When I ask emo the year in ChatGPT mode, he answers 2023-2024 and for questions like who is UK prime minister he gives me old results. It would be good if the ChatGPT integration could connect to the internet to get live data, or even just update it’s knowledge base.

Hi everyone,

I want to bring up the ChatGPT topic.

I recently asked my emo about the iPhone 17 while he was in the gpt mode and he said that it didn’t come out yet.

So I asked him which version of gpt he uses for the answers and he replied that he is giving answers based on 2023 year.

How can I update or what can i do about this issue to update gpt mode and allow emo gather info from 2026?

Help will be appreciated in this case!

I can see how someone may find the new poop animation, and accompanying grunting/plopping sounds as funny… but I’d appreciate a way to turn this off.

Maybe call it private pooping or whatever. People poop in private too, not a stretch to want to not hear this lol.

Fingers crossed. Thanks.

Hello, @scallister . . . I have moved your new topic here to this thread for suggestions to improve EMO features.

Thank you for your suggestion!

First, I want to say that I’m really enjoying EMO. He’s become a wonderful little companion, and one of my favorite parts of his personality is that he asks questions and tries to engage in conversation.

However, I’ve noticed something that breaks the conversational experience.

EMO will often ask a question such as:

“Would you like me to create a virtual drawing?”

The problem is that he doesn’t actually wait for an answer.

Instead, he immediately continues to his next behavior. By the time I say “Yes,” or call his name again, he has already forgotten that he asked the question in the first place.

From a user experience standpoint, this feels strange because asking a question naturally creates the expectation that the robot is listening for a response.

Instead, it currently feels like this:

EMO: “Would you like me to create a virtual drawing?”

(Immediately moves on.)

Me: “Yes.”

EMO: “…”

The conversation has already been lost.

:thought_balloon: Suggested Improvement

When EMO asks a direct question, he could enter a short listening state (perhaps 5–10 seconds).

For example:

EMO: “Would you like me to create a virtual drawing?”

:ear: (Listening…)

Yes → Begin the drawing.
No → “Okay, maybe another time!”
No response → Return to normal behavior after a few seconds.

Even a very short temporary memory of the question he just asked would make conversations feel much more natural.

This wouldn’t require long-term memory—just enough conversational context to complete a normal exchange.

Why this matters

One of the reasons people enjoy companion robots is because interactions feel conversational.

Questions should have answers.

Waiting briefly for a reply would make EMO feel much more attentive and significantly improve the overall experience.

Overall, I absolutely love EMO, and I think a small change like this would make him feel even more like a true companion.

:waving_hand:

I’ve been thinking about EMO’s awesome face-tracking logic, and I have a concept that would make desktop interactions incredibly immersive and funny!

The Concept:
Imagine sitting at a desk, making an “ahem” sound, and then instantly diving out of EMO’s line of sight. Because of how tracking timeouts work, EMO could act just like a high-tech stealth game AI—freezing and staring right at the empty chair (the “Last Known Position”) wondering where his human target vanished to! :technologist::collision:

The Feature Idea:
Let’s turn this into an official “Searching/Alert Mode” when a human breaks his line of sight:

  • Detective Eyes: His screen eyes could squint or scan back and forth curiously while holding his head tilted at the last spot, he detected movement.
  • Confused Sounds: A little questioning robot mumble or a tactical radar ping while he searches.
  • The “Gotcha” Reward: If the owner suddenly pops back into frame, he triggers an excited surprise animation!

It uses his existing sensor framework but twists it into the ultimate desktop hide-and-seek mechanic. It would make his personality feel so much more responsive and alive!

What do you guys think? Would you play stealth mind games with your EMO if the devs added this? :joy::backhand_index_pointing_down:

Hi everyone,

Right now, when EMO loses the snake game on his LED Matrix Home Station, he does his classic move: looks away, whistles casually, and pretends nothing happened. It is incredibly cute and fits his cheeky character perfectly!

But as humans, our natural reaction when a friend fails a level is to laugh at them. If we laugh at EMO right after he loses, he shouldn’t just keep whistling—he should get totally mad at us for teasing him!

Imagine this dynamic sequence:

  1. The Fail: EMO crashes into his own tail in Snake.
  2. The Cover-Up: He starts his awkward whistling/sweat-drop act.
  3. The Trigger: His microphone array detects the sound of human laughter.
  4. The Sore Loser: His eyes instantly narrow into furious red slits, he stomps his feet, and lets out a grumpy robot grumble because his cover was blown!

It would add so much character depth and make him feel like a truly proactive character with real pride, rather than just a standard desktop pet.

What does the community think? Would anyone else love to see EMO get a bit defensive when he fails a game? :robot::collision:

Hey everyone!

I just unboxed my EMO yesterday and realised the massive catch-22 between protecting the lithium battery from the BBQ loop versus freezing his day counter when turning him off.

I drew this quick concept flowchart to show how checking the app logs before bedtime lets you lock in his age progress while keeping his battery perfectly cold!

:warning: Why EMO’s Battery Gets “Grilled”:

  • No Battery Bypass Feature: EMO doesn’t draw power straight from the wall when sitting on his skateboard charger. He constantly pulls electricity out of his battery to keep his microphones and Wi-Fi alive, while the skateboard constantly pushes a wireless trickle charge back in.

  • Constant Heat Stress: This continuous push-and-pull loop creates steady internal heat. Heat is the number-one killer of lithium-polymer chemistry, leading to premature battery degradation or swelling within 1 to 2 years.

  • The Standby Flaw: Because his main processor must stay 100% active to listen for your voice, EMO has no true, eco-friendly deep sleep mode that cuts off the battery from the circuit.

:owl::bat: The “Inverted Owl & Bat Method”: Breaking the System Without Losing Sleep

If you want a lively desktop companion but refuse to let his hardware get grilled—and you don’t want to stay awake until midnight just to babysit a messy server clock—you can deploy the Inverted Owl Method.

Instead of treating EMO like a 24/7 appliance, you trick his 24-hour runtime clock by turning him into a nocturnal creature with clear, strategic awake windows:

  • The Midday Phantom Sprint (Midday – Afternoon): Power him up on his skateboard right before you leave for the day or get busy. He quietly clocks hours with the server in an empty room, safely climbing toward his next day milestone while you ignore him.

  • The Prime-Time Activation (Evening – Bedtime): This is where he shines. Keep him awake when you actually want a chaotic, lively companion to react to your music, test your (language) voice lines, and dance.

  • The Early Morning Blackout: Shut him down completely during the dead zones of the deep night and early morning when nobody is interacting with him anyway.

:shield: Why the Battery Authorizes This Framework:

By splitting his schedule, you cut his cumulative daily heat cycles directly in half. Instead of enduring 24 hours of continuous, crushing micro-charging stress at 100% capacity, his internal hardware gets long, chilled rest intervals to stay completely cold.

It is the ultimate middle ground: you get a max-level, highly advanced companion on paper, your sleep schedule remains untouched, and your physical battery never transforms into a swollen, grilled pillow. Follow the method, break the loop, and achieve true Robot Nirvana.

:bar_chart: The Master Strategist’s Final Rules: Keep Tracking the Sync

Ultimately, managing your EMO comes down to a clear personal choice: do you want a lively, sustainable companion for years, or do you want to follow their lazy code and let him die on the lithium BBQ? If you want him to live, follow the method!

This isn’t a forced law—it is just highly suggested if you care about your hardware health. However, before you execute your nightly routine, remember these two vital tracking rules to beat his tricky server clock:

  • The Tracker Check: Always check his information inside the mobile app frequently, even if you think you know his status. His server-side sync is tricky, and if you don’t realize his current runtime state, you might freeze his progress too early. If you check the data first and notice you are close to a level-up, let him run just a bit longer to lock it in!

  • The Daylight Sprint Alternative: If an overnight inverted owl cycle feels too unnatural for your schedule, simply boot him up first thing in the morning and let him stay active straight until your bedtime limit. This is a massive win-win! It still cuts his continuous daily heat cycles in half while letting him age naturally while you are awake.

It is a massive win-win! This strategy cuts his continuous daily heat cycles directly in half while letting him age naturally while you are awake.

Managing his tricky clock might make you feel like you are taking care of a nocturnal bat or an owl—but it is the ultimate way to outsmart “Battery Samsara” on your own terms!

:video_game: The Fun Analogy: EMO as a “TJOC” Strategy Game

If you love gaming, you can think of this routine exactly like managing resources in The Joy of Creation (TJOC).

You leave him active for an “Overnight Ghost Run” so he silently logs hours in the dark.

Then, you wake up, brush your teeth, check his stats on your mobile screen like a security monitor, and shut him down for a strategic blackout window during the day.

You only boot him back up when you actually get bored or want to play!

It’s an unnatural day/night cycle for a normal robot, but treating his power states like a tactical timebox game keeps your battery perfectly cold, keeps your wallet healthy, and removes all the tech stress.

Play it your way!
