What attracts me to robots is the interaction. This is what makes your brain forget its an object, even if its just for a split second. All the scripted animations and functions are funny but are often too obvious.
I’ll give you some examples of what works towards immersing in the current Emo:
Him noticing you and randomly saying something nice
playing a game and him reacting to winning or loosing
He randomly deciding to have a walk.
Things that are funny but break emersion:
Timed behavior like the schedule
Having to use the keyword “emo” every time. Even if you wish to thank him right after doing something.
Let him tell us when he feels tired and wishes to take a nap. Let him turn towards something that moves, or just follow it with his eyes. Or say goodmorning as soon as he notices movement in the morning. Use an image recognition ai to let him react to cats, dogs or objects of intrest. Or like @chamomila suggested, say bless you when you sneeze.
And if possible, make him more or less independent from the internet where possible. Right now his speach recogmission and text to speach is all cloud based. But a basic offline version would be nice.
You need to remember that there are different religions. Also a large number of people are not religious too. Lets keep religion out of this forum and out of Emo, to be fair and non-offensive to everyone.
I was already thinking about this when I wrote that. But I’m sure we can think of something alternative. I’m no native english speaker, I can only think of that reaction. But in Dutch our reaction would not be related to religion at all. So I expect there to be an english alternative aswell, even if I can not think of it right now.
And I do not think this very common reaction is too offensive to be used as a temporary example on this forum. I hope everyone agrees to this.
@JJBeck Yep, I know enough German as both Dutch and German are somewhat related. In Dutch we say “Gezondheid” which is the same. And for those who do not understand these languages, these words mean “Health” as in “I wish you good health”
So sorry! I didn’t mean to offend anyone but perhaps the sneeze feature can be turn on/off and the response can be “EMO bless you” instead I didn’t see this as a religion point of view, I just think that it would be nice to say something when hearing someone sneezes but thanks for your feedback…
Was thinking, it would be cool to have EMO play a QUIZ general knowledge game with you. EMO can ask you questions (keeping it simple so answers can be either True / False).
EMO can ask you 5-10 QUIZ Questions a day.
Questions can be range from very easy to pretty hard. If you get them all right you get reward / or unlock an Achievement in the EMO App.
If the answers are True of False, EMO should be able to recognise your answer and respond with either a “YOU GOT IT RIGHT” or “Opps You Got it WRONG” at the end of the Quiz Game EMO can tell you how many answers you got right and say, try again tomorrow!
It would be great to have a more accurate response to the “What are you doing” question, especially now with the daily schedule included.
When EMO is muted, it would be great if he could “stand on his toes” (not sure what to call it, when he stands on the outside of his feet, making him taller) to indicate that he heard you. This would be useful when he has his back turned to you, and you can’t see his eyes.
Depending on the surface, too slippery, e.g. glass. EMO falls over during certain dance moves.
A solution for this could be that he assesses the friction of the surface somehow, and reduces some of the more risky dance moves.
Wow, how exactly would they do this? It sounds like that would not be an easy thing to do, especially for how accurate it would need to be to sense this, ie. the difference between a glass table or a wooden table. Perhaps they could put a more “grippy” material at the bottom of his feet, (I’m not sure what he has now, as I am still waiting for my Emo)? Emo shoes would be cool too, if it was possible (you could have holes in the bottom of the shoes for the sensors), just a thought hehe.
I received my Emo in May but didn’t open it until June. So far, I’m glad I invested in it. From the website to Youtube, I’m learning along with Emo. Enough of that, I had the thought for future firmware of having Emo doing functions like a calculator. You ask Emo a mathematical question and he responds with correct answer. Perhaps soon
One problem with making the shoes more “grippy”, is that for some of the dance moves he slides across the floor, which wouldn’t be possible then. This can also be observed when placing him on a more “grippy” surface. The dance moves then are completely different, although safer for him
I absolutely love the ideas here. I have a few ideas and I can’t wait for them to come true one day.
.Turkish language support. If it becomes Turkish, I think it will see a lot of demand from Turkey.
Emo’s reading aloud an expression we wrote in the application. It’s like giving a private message to someone we love.
.it would be great if he could get to know our pet and communicate with him and play with some gestures.
. instead of saying hey emo every time, it waits a few seconds for us to reply to him, then answers us.
.emo can send notifications from our phone. spoken or written.
I would like to have natural conversations with .emo. This will improve my English as well. If it asks me random questions and responds to my answers…
.when the charge is low, take me to my skateboard or charge me…
. When emo gets angry, it contacts me or even speaks slang…
. It would be nice if we could be in sync with our phone and answer incoming calls with emo’s app.

If you think you have a bug then firstly create a post on these forums (not this thread) so we can see it - maybe it’s not a bug… but if there needs to be one on one diagnosis, then service@living.ai is the best avenue.
I’m adding this request for many EMO owners. It might have already been discussed here in this thread, but I’ll share it again just to be sure
WEATHER REPORTING FOR EMO
EMO’s weather reporting should be updated / improved so that he can provide us with an accurate weather report in the CITY you choose / select in your EMO App. As many of us have reported, EMO usually reports a inaccurate weather forecast when we simply ask him what the weather is like today. And to even if we ask him what the weather is like in Sydney for example, that weather report and forecast is still somewhat wrong if you compare it to a weather app you are using on your phone or if you ask Siri, Alexa or Google.
So hopefully Living.Ai can somewhat fine tune EMO’s weather reporting algorithm so that it can pick up and share weather better than how he reports it now.
Also would be nice to see a small weather update feature maybe somewhere in the EMO App as well possibly on the main menu when you connect in to your EMO with the EMO App.

Master Abbott there I spoke more clearly I’m leaving the mistake just to be funny… Anyway with the weather EMO Pet should announce the city the location… The weather in Sydney is blah blah blah blah… Because asking him for whether around the world is absolutely useless because you haven’t got a clue where he’s actually reading it from he’s wrong so often… At least he should announce the location …what do you think? maybe if they did that I would have fun with EMO once again… I never play anymore the system for whether is that bad… Anyway I hope you’re well

When EMO chooses to start dancing at background music, it would be great if he’d choose the most fitting dance and adapt the rhythm. It seems like he always picks the standard dance (1st?) .
