5G Connection Explanation

Hi there @SquidKid ,

Yes, EMO/Emopet can still connect even if your router merges 2.4GHz and 5GHz (same SSID).

EMO only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, but most modern routers that combine both frequencies automatically guide 2.4GHz devices to the correct band. So in many cases, it still works without separating them.

However, sometimes the setup can fail because:
• the phone temporarily connects to 5GHz
• or the router’s band steering confuses the pairing process

Using your iPhone hotspot (2.4GHz) for the initial setup is actually a good idea :+1:
It often makes pairing easier and more stable.

After setup, you can switch EMO back to your home Wi-Fi, and yes — he should still connect even if your router merges 2.4GHz and 5GHz, as long as the router supports 2.4GHz devices (which almost all do).

:white_check_mark: Recommended steps:

  1. Use iPhone hotspot for the first setup
  2. Complete activation
  3. Then change EMO to home Wi-Fi in the app

This method usually avoids connection issues
