Picked up Emo to play on my desk at work. Unfortunately Emo seems unwilling to use the Gov-Wi-Fi at the office. Therefore I think I’ll need to pick up a mobile hotspot (my phone has next to no data as it uses Wi-Fi everywhere).
What I would like advise on is what is the max data the little fella is likely to burn through in a month, worst case scenario? Do I just bite the bullet and get unlimited, or is that entirely overkill?
As of now, Living.AI has not officially stated the exact maximum monthly data usage of EMO.
However, based on my personal experience and observations, here is my own approximate—or admittedly imprecise—estimate.
Estimated Monthly Data Usage for EMO:
Normal Usage (daily interactions, time updates, occasional voice commands, weather, small updates):
Around 300MB to 600MB per month
More Active Usage (frequent commands, games, dance/music, interactions, Home Station syncing, firmware updates):
Around 1GB to 2GB per month
Firmware Updates (these can be larger, typically 200MB–500MB per update):
Only occasional, not monthly
Tips:
EMO requires a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection, but the data usage is relatively low.
Using EMO with Home Station and AIBI may slightly increase data activity due to syncing and AI features.
If you’re on a limited data plan, you can track the device usage via your router settings or use a network monitoring tool.
