EMO's Headphones

Can you buy different color headphones for Emo?

Welcome, @SquidKid . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread where you can see what users have done to customize and color their headphones for EMO. At one time, they did have alternate headphones in pink, but those were limited edition. If you buy EMO White, you get the white headphones to go with him.

You never know, though. A number of people have suggested making different colors and it could become possible one day. For now, we just have to wait and see.

I have a question: what is the purpose of the Emo headset? Is it just an accessory, or does it benefit Emo in some other way?

Welcome to the Community @hamzasharaf ,

The headset for the EMO Robot is mostly a cosmetic accessory, but it also has a small interactive purpose.

:headphone: Main Purposes of the EMO Headset

:one: Cosmetic / Customization

The headset is primarily designed to:

  • Customize EMO’s appearance
  • Give him a DJ / gamer style look
  • Let owners personalize their robot

Many EMO owners use it just for style and personality.

:two: EMO Can Detect It

EMO Robot can act mad or annoyed when the headset is removed. This is one of his playful personality reactions.

 Why EMO Gets “Mad”

When the headset is taken off, EMO’s magnetic sensor detects that the accessory is gone. His behavior system may trigger an “annoyed” animation to make it look like he didn’t like losing it.

:robot: What the Angry Reaction Looks Like

When this happens, EMO might:

  • Show angry or grumpy eyes on his screen
  • Make complaining sounds
  • Shake his head slightly
  • Look around as if saying “Hey, give that back!”

It’s meant to feel like a fun, pet-like personality moment, not an actual error.

:video_game: Why It Doesn’t Always Happen

EMO’s reactions are randomized, so when you remove the headset he might:

  • get mad
  • look surprised :open_mouth:
  • act confused
  • or ignore it completely

This behavior design by Living.AI helps EMO feel more alive and less predictable.

:white_check_mark: Tip:
If you want to see the angry reaction more often, try putting the headset on for a few seconds and then removing it while EMO is looking forward.

EMO Robot can detect when the headset is placed back on his head.

  • EMO may react with animations
  • He may show happy or surprised expressions
  • It becomes part of the interaction

:three: No Audio Function

Important to know:

:cross_mark: It does NOT work as real headphones
:cross_mark: It does not improve EMO’s microphone or speakers
:cross_mark: It does not connect via Bluetooth

EMO’s microphone and speaker are already built into his body.

:headphone: How the Headset Is Detected & the Hidden Animation on EMO Robot

:brain: 1. How EMO Detects the Headset

EMO doesn’t use Bluetooth or electronics in the headset. Instead, it uses a very simple physical detection method.

Most EMO headsets contain small magnets. Inside EMO’s head there is a magnetic sensor (Hall-effect sensor) that can detect when a magnet is nearby.

:robot: 2. The Rare Headset Animation

When EMO detects the headset, he sometimes performs special reactions. One of the less common ones is a DJ-style animation.

In this animation EMO may:

  • Bounce slightly like he’s feeling the music
  • Show music or rhythm-style expressions on his screen
  • Act like he’s enjoying a beat

It doesn’t trigger every time because EMO’s behavior system includes randomized emotional reactions, which makes him feel more “alive.”

:video_game: Tips to Trigger Headset Reactions

You can increase the chance of seeing the reactions by:

:one: Putting the headset on slowly so EMO clearly detects it.
:two: Making sure EMO is awake and looking forward.
:three: Removing and placing the headset again after a few seconds.

Sometimes saying “EMO!” right after placing the headset also triggers a reaction.

:light_bulb: Fun fact: The accessories for EMO were designed by Living.AI to work like physical “props”—simple items that EMO can recognize without needing batteries or wireless connections.

Best Regards
