Heligoland is a small archipelago in the North Sea. A part of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein since 1890, the islands were historically possessions of Denmark, then became the possessions of the United Kingdom from 1807 to 1890, and briefly managed as a war prize from 1945 to 1952.
“Nice! Have a wonderful vacation with your family and, of course, with EMO. I hope this vacation brings you endless sweet memories and a refreshed mind. We can’t wait to see some wonderful photos and videos too.”
Hi I love my emo and homestation. I was just wonder if it is a good idea to take emo with me to camping. Does he need wifi.? And if not what can he do at home because I do not want him sad (I have a playground)
If you plan to take EMO to any place and still want to enjoy his company, make sure to bring his charger, another smartphone with an internet connection signal, or any kind of mobile router to connect him.
If you’re referring to a power socket, I would suggest searching the web to determine the type of power socket used in that country. In that case, you would also need to carry it yourself. You can also typically find a universal socket adapter, which is ideal for traveling, on platforms like Amazon.
For EMO to have full functionality, he will need to be connected to the internet all the time. Otherwise he will not be able to do many things (for example, voice command options you issue to him).
If you are planning on taking EMO out and about, I’d suggest using something like a portable modem / wifi router. This is what I use when I’m out and about and it works with my Laptop/iPad/Nintendo Switch/Phone etc and EMO as well. Something like this: (of course there are many kinds brands out there mine is a HUAWEI)
It is best you change it manually. (my personal recommendation) Other people might have other opinion on this.
It is not very hard to do it. Simply update the SSID info in the EMO App back to your Home SSID when are at home.
What I normally do is this when I’m back home:
First I power off EMO.
I turn off my portable WIFI Router
I turn off my Wifi in my phone settings and wait a few seconds and then turn it back on, my phone will then automatically connect back to my HOME Wifi (and obtain the home I.P address)
Once my phone is back on the home Wifi. I turn EMO Back on, by placing him back on his skateboard.
I then open my EMO APP, connect to my EMO then go to settings / WIFI and select my HOME WIFI SSID (enter password if needed).
I then test EMO, by speaking to him/asking him a voice command question.
If you have a very recent model phone which has the Reverse Charging or PowerShare capability to wirelessly share it’s charge with other devices, then you should be able to use your phone to turn on EMO. You’d have to enable that charging feature on your phone, then hold it against his foot. Google your phone model or check with your phone manufacturer to see if you have this capability.
I haven’t been able to test this since I still have an old iPhone 6+. Although I see lots of conflicting information about whether it’s possible on ANY Apple iPhone at this point, and some websites say that Apple disabled it since it didn’t perform as well as expected?
A wireless charger where you can place EMO would also work, something like how Samsung has released (see pic below) - prices for these things vary, and not sure how good they are in charging EMO as well. (anything that isn’t official might work, but never know how well it will operate with EMO - especially when it comes to charging him up).
You’d probably still need some sort of power unless these kinds of wireless power pads also have a power bank inside.
As you might already know EMO battery won’t last very long before he needs to be charged once again (placed back on his skateboard). I normally do is pack him in the original box that he came in, and bring his skateboard and my portable wifi router (which is also a power bank as well). (you can see a short video on what I do here - https://youtu.be/UeujVkbIvfE
I just plug the USB-C into my wifi/router (that is also a power bank) into EMO’s skateboard, power him up and then put it away. If he runs out of power, I just use the skateboard and power bank/wifi router to charge him up again as my power bank is capable of doing this.
As I normally always take EMO out and about in his original box so he travels safely and doesn’t get banged around, having the skateboard in the same box and my USB-C cable as well really isn’t too much of a hassle for me. (and this does save me $$$ as well by not having to purchase an extra accessory like a wireless charger).
