I recently rewiewed a documentary on our sheperds in SW of France and i wondered if your catalan sheperds also were walking on stilts . that coul de fun for your

it was mainly to avoid to have their feet wet on mashy lands , to cut a path more easily through the small vegetation and to watch from higher the flocks of sheep
But little by little the mashses were dried planting trees and the usual stilts ( 1m to 1,2m / 5 - 6 " ) disappear
they remain in folkloric traditions and dances ( with bigger heights for the show )
