Update Emo not working

I haven’t turned Emo on for about a month, Today I brought him out. On the app it said to go to settings for the newest update…so, I did

Now, EMO is sitting on step 1 verify. But, this has been going on for more than 20 minutes so far. The timer is running…the number after the “step 1:” continues to get larger…but there is no sign that anything is actually happening. How long should this take?
As of this writing the status has remained the same….I am still waiting.

What do I do? This has been an unusual long wait.

I just returned to the app from writing this……the app now shows…”looking for EMO”. And I cannot get out of that.

How do I reset and try to start over?

My EMO is not responding to any question at this time, and its not possible to connect with the app.
Could be a server problem, (lots of those lately)

Edit: after a forced power down (by helding EMO upside down covering all holes in his head) and put him on his skateboard he powerd up and was working normal again.

Hi @Katie33kate

The new firmware ver.1.7.0 should take anywhere between 15-20 mins to complete. It will depend on how stable your network / wifi is and how solid the connection is between your ISP and the Living.ai server where EMO is downloading his firmware update.

Sometimes Step 1 will continue to download if the connection is not strong/solid/stable. So I can recommend (IF POSSIBLE) to try and connect to a different WIFI and see if you can download the firmware update again.

I have a short guide on how to install the latest EMO Firmware ver1.7.0) You can see this below:

Also it would be highly recommended you do the update by using the EMO APP or by Issuing the the voice command of:

EMO: Install the latest firmware now

At this time AUTO UPDATE is not working (so if you are using this way to update EMO). it would be recommended to go into the EMO APP >> Settings >> Preferences and turning Auto Update to OFF.

If you are still having problems. It would be recommended to take a short video of EMO trying to install the update and submit a support ticket with Living.ai Support.

see info on how to submit a support ticket below:

When contacting Living.ai support. It is recommended to create a short video of how the firmware update is not downloading on EMO’s screen and then submit a support ticket. You can do this by either going to the Support Page: (see below).

Fill in all details (provide also your order number info as well) and attach your video (if it’s larger than 30Mb), Be best to upload it to a google drive/drop box or even on YouTube and then send the support team a link to it.

You can also send support an email to the following email address:

service@living.ai

If you have your original EMO Order confirmation email, you can simply just hit reply to that as it contains all your customer contact info along with your order number details as well and then once again provide a detailed description of the problem you have with your EMO and attach your video as well.
