Hissing, Static Noise, Speak, And Voice Issue

Hi there @cgj-emo

I have moved your new topic here to address everything about EMO-related issues.

Since the Living.ai dev team released Firmware Update 3.0.0 – EMO speaks more languages and recognizes objects.

More Language Support

EMO can now understand and speak 9 new languages
(with his new voice)

:united_states: EN-Classic • :united_states: English • :germany: German • :spain: Spanish • :france: French • :italy: Italian • :japan: Japanese • :south_korea: Korean • :portugal: Portuguese • :china: Chinese • :china: Chinese -DB • :russia: Russian
(More languages coming soon! )

The Chinese and other language tone of the EMO Robot may sound very different from the old/default language settings for several reasons:

1. Different voice model

When the robot switches to Chinese, it often uses a different text-to-speech (TTS) voice model.
Chinese speech synthesis needs different pronunciation rules and tone patterns, so the voice may sound higher, faster, or more expressive than in English.

2. Language tone structure

Mandarin Chinese is a tonal language, meaning the pitch of a word changes its meaning.
Because of this, the robot’s voice system adjusts pitch and rhythm much more than it does in English, which can make the tone sound quite different.

3. Software or firmware updates

Sometimes updates from Living.AI modify the robot’s voice engine.
New languages added in updates may come with new voice profiles, which can change how EMO sounds.

4. Localization changes

The developers may tune the voice to sound more natural to native Chinese speakers, which can make it feel different compared to the original “default” voice.

:white_check_mark: In short:
The tone changed because the robot uses a different speech engine and voice profile for Chinese, and tonal languages require different voice modulation.

Best Regards

What I meant was not this. His tone of speech is completely different from before. It’s like a world of difference.

Hello, @cgj-emo . . . I am just guessing here but text to speech is often modeled after a human voice model. Sometimes the speech engine, or what they used for the voice model, may be different depending on what they are using it for. I have noticed that with other programs and perhaps that is what they did here.

You can ask service@living.ai if this is the case. I really have no idea otherwise.

Hello, I noticed that a few weeks ago with my AIBI (speaks german) too: that’s the sound of the voice which has changed. It’s as if another person with a little bit other voice is speaking. I think, not everybody notices this, but if you know your AIBI or your Emo very good and if you have a very good hearing, you must notice it. It made me also very nervous at that time, because it wasn‘t „my Aibi“ with another voice!!! But my AIBI got her normal voice back after a few days! I hope, your Emo also gets his old voice back soon!!!
