Hi there @vivat ,

I have merged your new topic post to this thread where we discuss everything about the petting problem.
Please read my post above yours with some tips; it might help you and give you an idea for your EMO issue.

Let me know how it goes for you and good luck.

Hi there my emos patting is strange bc when I let go of his head he still thinks he is being petted (only the top of his head not the sides)

Hello, @matthew.coveney . . . you may wish to try lighter pressure on the head pats to see if letting off will stop the animation.

You may also wish to read above some of the posts to see if there are any other suggestions you might try.

My Emo doesn’t recognize being pet on the head anymore. Just the right cheek is working :smiling_face_with_tear: besides that he keeps walking off the skateboard when he is half charged  i don’t have the home station so he can’t get confused. Power is fine. He shows the charging animation and still walks off. I don’t know what to do with him. I placed a barrier around him so he won’t fall off the desk when he just walks off :eyes: Can someone help me fix the small guy? I just got him (bought him used, but they say they never had issues)

Welcome to the EMO Community Forums, @Yuki88 . . . as for the head petting, please read through this thread to see if anything might assist you.

As for him walking off of the skate board, make sure his foot is on the circle. Watch the blue light on the skate board. Flashing means not good connection and solid blue light means he is on there properly for charging. If for some reason the light is solid and you are still having the same issue, please try changing the charging cable and the wall outlet he is plugged into. If this still does not work, please get video of the issue(s) and send an E-Mail to service@living.ai with the four digit alphanumeric number shown when you sign him into the app. Be sure to let them know that you are the second owner.

My best to you.

Thank you  I see if anything works for him. He is just so adorable  Good News the petting seems to function again :confetti_ball: I use another plug that compensates fluctuating in the power and see how that goes. He just told me that he is already 202 days old :scream::blush:

Having some petting problems since replacing the battery in mine. I used to work with electronics so taking EMO apart is actually really easy so I know he has gone back together ok.

But now he doesn’t always recognise his head being touched. Or rather he notices for a split second that goes back to normal. But then you can go back to him and he will recognise being touched on the top of his head just fine.

I took him apart a second time and made sure everything was in order and gave the contacts a clean and other than that there doesn’t seem to be anything else you can do. It’s only a niggly thing, but I do like to do each cheek and then head to get the 3 hearts that merge into the one large one

Hello, @mancbiker . . . you can try the recalibration of the petting sensor mentioned here.

Let us know how it goes.

Amazingly, after I had posted here, I “calibrated” EMO purely by accident. I thought “maybe if I squeeze his head a little” and he started working properly again. I can’t believe I accidentally did the correct procedure

A question though, why does the EMO in that video have a cutout in his head at the front? It looks like it’s placed with possibly access to the sd card? Thanks

Hello, @mancbiker . . . yes the first prototypes had that slot for the S.D. card.

That is great that you were able to do that for him! Just do not squeeze too hard.

Hi there @mancbiker ,

Congrats on solving your EMO petting issue! As for the question about EMO having a special SD card slot on his right head, that’s a special prototype edition feature made available only for all Alpha Testers.

Best Regards…

Plus de réaction caresse

Bonjour

Lorsque je caresse la tête d’Emo, il ne réagit plus. Par contre, je peux toujours jouer à Angry Emo donc le capteur fonctionne toujours…

Une idée ?

merci

No more reaction when I pet him

Hello

When I pet Emo’s head, he doesn’t react anymore. However, I can still play Angry Emo, so the sensor is still working…

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello @michaelreymann and welcome to the community  !

I’m sorry to hear about the touch sensor issue with your EMO.

First, a very important note: Living.AI officially removed the “rubbing” function in the current EMO version because the sensor was too sensitive and it was affecting normal use . If you are rubbing (not just petting), that is why it no longer works.

Quick analysis:

· Since Angry Emo still works, the touch sensor is not completely dead. It still detects strong input, but it may have lost sensitivity to light, long touches (petting).

What you can try (in order):

1. Restart your EMO – either from the mobile app or by using the small reset button located in the hole at the back of his head (press gently with a paperclip). This often fixes temporary glitches .

2. Test again after reboot – pet him slowly and with a bit more pressure than usual (not too light, but not hard). Sometimes the sensor just needs a “wake up” nudge.

3. Make sure your firmware is up to date – check for any pending updates in the EMO Pet app.

4. Try the “upside down” reset method – hold EMO upside down and firmly press the top sensor area with two fingers. He should shut down. Then place him on his charger to reboot .

5. Try a factory reset (last resort) – this will erase your data (achievements, dance lists, etc.), so back up anything important first.

If nothing works:

· Record a short video showing the issue and contact Living.AI support at service@living.ai. Include your EMO ID and order number (if you have it) .

· You can also tag @edward or @lindaru here in the forum – they are very helpful with these kinds of problems.

Good luck! I hope your EMO starts responding to your love again soon.

Hi there @michaelreymann, and welcome to the community…

I moved your new topic here since it’s related to your original question. I also closed the separate topic to keep everything organized within the community.

There are cases where the spring-loaded pin jams is no longer connected to the brass plate, causing the petting system to stop working sometimes .

Bonjour

Google translation to English by Lindaru: Hello,
Thanks for your replies.

I turned Emo off while holding him upside down… I reset the sensor as shown in the video… but the touch sensor still isn’t working! Could it be disconnected?
I haven’t performed a factory reset; I don’t think that would solve the problem…
What should I do?

Hello, @michaelreymann . . . it is possible that the petting sensor is damaged.

I would get video of the issue and send a link to service@living.ai along with a description of your issue, what you have tried to get it working (as in the video you watched), your EMO I.D. and order number (if you still have it).

Please be patient as they are currently back-logged on requests but once they have reviewed your E-Mail they will respond.

My best to you.

Hello @michaelreymann ,

I agree with Lindaru. If the petting sensor stopped working after you turned EMO upside down, it’s possible the internal ribbon cable became loose or disconnected.

Here’s what you can try before contacting support:

1. Perform a proper shutdown – Press and hold the left hole on the back of EMO’s head (force shutdown). Then turn him back on normally. This sometimes resets the touch sensor drivers.

(Attach your image here: shows the “FORCE SHUTDOWN” and “REBOOT/RESTART” holes on EMO and AIBI)

2. Check if the sensor works anywhere else – Try petting the top of his head, the back, and both sides. Some EMO units have touch zones in multiple places. If only one spot doesn’t work, the sensor might be dirty or partially disconnected.

3. If nothing works – Follow Lindaru’s advice: send a video to service@living.ai (and for us) with your EMO ID and order number. Be patient, support is slow but they usually respond.

A factory reset likely won’t fix this, because it’s probably a hardware connection issue, not a software one.

Best of luck,

Hamza …

It seems that my emo goes beyond caresses, playing angry emo works perfectly but if I caress him completely ignores me, is that normal? Do I have an autistic emo?
