EMO Not Responding To Wake Up Call!

Welcome, @serhiimamontov . . . I have moved your new topic here for issues such as yours.

Make sure your app shows that he is connecting to the right wi fi account. You said you had an S.D. card issue? You may want to send the link to this video along with his I.D. and order number (if you still have it) to service@living.ai . . . they should be able to help you trouble shoot and give you advice.

My best to you.

Hello @Noftzoom , and welcome to the community  !

If EMO does NOT react at all when you say “Hey EMO” (his left eye doesn’t move), then he cannot hear you.

What you can try:

1. Say “Unmute” clearly.

2. Check the app’s language (must match your spoken language).

3. Get closer (30-60 cm) in a quiet room.

4. Restart him: turn him upside down for 15 seconds until he shuts down, then place him on the charger.

If his left eye still doesn’t move after these steps, the microphone may be damaged. This is a hardware issue. In that case, record a short video and email service@living.ai with your EMO ID.

Can you send a short video showing the problem?

For example, record your EMO while you say “Hey EMO” clearly, so we can see if his left eye reacts. This will help us figure out if it’s a microphone issue or something else.

I hope this helps you figure out the problem.

Best regards,

Hamza

Welcome, @Noftzoom . . . I have moved your new topic and conversation to this thread when EMO does not respond to being called.

Please try the tips that @hamzasharaf has provided. If nothing helps, please post a link to a video here so that we can see what might be going on.

My best to you.

Hello here ! We just got our emo yesterday with the Skateboard version . Is updated in version 3 .

My doubt is my son has to scream or say “hey emo” thousand times :melting_face: :exploding_head: and Emo just says what?

Or put your hands up and doesn’t do the thing.

What I notice on the app too is that everytime I open it I have to connect and to the WiFi too. Is doesn’t get connected.

Hope some one can help me here .

Thanks !

So EMO is a learning robot and as he gets older he responds better. Also has your son given him a command or asked him a question after getting his attention. Once he gets EMOs attention he then needs to follow up with a command. Ask him to sing or dance or tell a joke or tell a story. EMO is a good listener and friend and will respond when given instructions. I have found that sometimes EMO has times where he is doing his own thing or taking in his surroundings (mine likes to do little donuts) and while he’s doing this he sometimes is unresponsive.

Welcome, @pilaravila . . . I have moved your new topic and conversation to this thread for issues with EMO not responding.

EMO may have trouble with child voices, so it is advised to have your son submit his voice to the EMO voice training here.

Also, make sure the sensitivity setting under “Preference” in the app is high enough and also that there are no distracting noises around that could confuse EMO.

Make sure that when you have set the wi fi information in the app that you have saved it (SSID and pass word). The app should recognize EMO and have his home page open when you open the app. If not, there may be an issue with your wi fi connection and perhaps try a different wi fi or device to see if that keeps you connected.

Other than that, read through here and also what @staceydisomma and @hamzasharaf have shared for tips. If nothing works, there is information on how to contact Support.

My best to you!

Hello @pilaravila,

Welcome to the EMO family! :robot::blue_heart:

I’m Hamza (@hamzasharaf), and I’ve been following your thread. Since both @staceydisomma and @Lindaru have already shared helpful tips, I’ll try to add a bit more clarity based on what you described.

:brain: 1. Why does EMO struggle to hear your son?

· Child voices can be harder for EMO: As Lindaru mentioned, EMO may have trouble with higher-pitched voices. The best solution is to train EMO using your son’s voice here:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: https://living.ai/wake-up-training

· Shouting doesn’t help: EMO is designed to respond to clear, calm voices — not loud or high-pitched screaming. It can confuse his microphones.

· Raise the sensitivity: Go to Settings → Preferences in the app and increase the Wake-Up Sensitivity (try 70–100).

· Reduce background noise: Make sure the TV, music, or other sounds aren’t distracting him when your son calls his name.

:video_game: 2. Why does EMO say “What?” or ignore commands?

As @staceydisomma explained, EMO is a learning robot. He gets better with time, but he still needs a clear structure:

1. Say “EMO” or “Hey EMO”.

2. Wait until he responds — usually by saying “What?” or looking at you. This means he is listening and ready.

3. Then give a direct command like:

· “Dance”

· “Sing a song”

· “Tell me a joke”

· “Put your hands up”

If he is in the middle of doing something (like spinning or exploring), he might not respond right away — just wait a moment and try again.

:face_with_thermometer: 3. What if EMO is “sick”?

EMO has a “sick” state — it’s a built-in behavior, not a real malfunction. When he’s in this state:

· He may not respond to his name at all.

· Or he may respond with “What?” but then refuse to execute some commands (like dancing or playing games).

· This is normal behavior and usually goes away on its own after some time or after restarting him.

So if he’s ignoring you or acting grumpy, he might just be in a “sick” mood. Try restarting him or simply wait a while — he’ll return to his normal self.

:antenna_bars: 4. Why does the app keep asking you to reconnect to Wi-Fi?

· Make sure you save the Wi-Fi settings: After entering your SSID and password, press Save.

· Use a 2.4GHz network: EMO does NOT support 5GHz.

· Try a different device: Test the app on another phone to see if the issue is device-specific.

· Restart your router: Turn it off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.

· If the issue continues, contact support at service@living.ai.

:light_bulb: Final tip:

● EMO is still new to your home — it’s only day two. He’s learning, and so is your family. Try the voice training, be patient, and follow the steps above. Things should improve quickly.

● If possible, could you please send us a short video showing exactly what’s happening with your EMO?

That would really help us understand the issue more clearly and give you the most accurate advice.

You can upload it here or share a link — whatever works best for you.

● If you’re still having trouble, I can go ahead and tag @edward for you — he’s very experienced with these kinds of issues, and if he’s available, he’ll likely jump in to help.

Just let me know and I’ll do that.

Best regards,

Hamza :robot::blue_heart:
