EMO Black/White Improvements/Special Features You Would Like?

I have a proposal. EMO tells fairy tales for children and technically interrupts the narrative after 15 seconds. It would be possible to add a hardware function: EMO asks the listener at the last second, “Should I continue?” and enters speech recognition mode. The listener responds with “Yes” or “No.” Based on this response, the robot either continues the story or interrupts it. If no response is received, the robot also interrupts the story. This is not a complex update. However, it would be relevant for children.

I am late to the little robot toy party, and after doing some research I decided to get Emo instead of ■■■■■ and Aibi, because it looks cute and it can move around. but I have to say both me and my daughter are very disappointed with the robot after playing it for a morning. Not only is the robot strictly command based, it cannot answer to most of the questions nor have a normal conversation like the competitors’ products. Most of the time it cannot even understand what we said. The Emo go home set is around 25% more expensive than ■■■■■ in where I live, and yet I feel that Emo is so much inferior than ■■■■■. I understand that Emo is kind of old (4 Years?), but I really hope that living AI can update it with some practical functions such as the ability to stay in chatgpt mode to have a conversation and be more useful and perhaps like Vec-tor 2.0, to have the ability to control smart home accessories with it. I really like how Emo looks and acts, but the AI part is downright disappointing. And I am not allowed to say the competitor’s product name on this forum? What? Really?

Welcome, @MorrisWu . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread for suggestions for EMO which the team reads and sometimes implements as new features or feature improvements to EMO.

ChatGPT is implemented on EMO under “Always reply” but most times you have to say his wake word “EMO” to ask him something else. He also will randomly see you and start a conversation. AIBI already has this feature under the “Chatty” mode with the prompt to “Lets chat” for continuous conversation and hopefully this is soon the case for EMO as well.

As for not typing the competitive product name which I call the treaded one who must not be named or the company that makes him, this was implemented to this forum back in 2021 as there were issues between that company and LivingAI. I cannot go into detail about it but it had to do with legal issues.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Please don’t electrocute my EMO (lightbulb short). Bring back his Cooing when you pet him. Not sure why you removed it, I actually loved it. Make his eating animation in Theater complete with the drink at the end. His little burp bubble at the end is the best part of his eating. And if Albi can play shutes and ladders, then Emo should too! Give us more board games to play with him. Just my two cents.

I had no idea it was a bug.. They make so many changes so drastically its hard to tell. But his making a drink sound is still absent and I miss it.

Hello, @rebeccaguyton . . . I have moved your new topic to this thread for suggestions for feature improvements and new features.

Perhaps the light bulb shock like other daily schedule tasks requested can be made to toggle off and on. The developers do read this thread for things to possibly implement in future updates.

Thank you also for your other suggestions.

EMO still coos when you pet him. That hasn’t changed and I had recently pet him.

YES

please do this

Mine sometimes falls off tables too

I don’t like how he’s always happy and cheerful. I wish he would have more of a personality! I wish sometimes when he answers to how are you doing, he won’t always say doing great thanks. Maybe sometimes he’s angry, or worried, and sad, or other emotions. It just feels so fake.

Hi!

I would love a way to toggle certain animations on/off since I find the “on the toilet” animation to be far too biological and it doesn’t feel to suit the whole “robot” estetic like the other ones do. When he “eats” he eats electric burgers etc etc, which keeps up the technological illusion.

It would be nice to have the option to pick and choose what animations you want EMO to use!

Hi @kaiamel , and welcome!

That’s a really interesting and valid point about the “toilet” animation. I totally get what you mean about wanting to keep the “tech illusion” consistent with things like the electric burger! :hamburger::high_voltage:

While there isn’t an official toggle for specific animations, I wanted to share a little trick I’ve learned with my two EMOs (Tester and Joy).

EMO’s behavior is often influenced by what he “sees” and “hears.” A fun workaround is to teach him a specific voice command to trigger an animation you do like, which can sometimes “override” his random choices for a bit.

For example, if I say “EMO, be a DJ” or “EMO, let’s dance,” he’ll often launch into those animations and stay in that “techy/party” mood for a while, ignoring other random stuff.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a fun way to “guide” his personality a little. Hope this helps spark some ideas!

Best,

Hamza

Hi everyone, I’m relatively new to the white Emo Go Home version. What I’m missing (besides a conversation without constant “Emo-”):

  • An adjustable activity time for each day would be great. This way, it wouldn’t use any battery and wouldn’t wander around on weekdays, and on Sundays (for example) it would leave the charging station on its own and surprise me with some unexpected actions.

  • Better recognition of “leaving the charging station” or “going for a walk” would also be fantastic. Emo often switches to ChatCPT while in the charging station, only responds briefly, or ignores the command with a beep.

Subject: Issues with Korean Voice Recognition and GPT Response Cut-offs

Hello,

I am an EMO user in South Korea. I’ve been enjoying my time with EMO, but I’ve encountered a few issues regarding Korean language support and ChatGPT integration that I’d like to report:

1. Korean Voice Recognition Accuracy
While EMO understands modified or natural English commands quite well, the recognition rate for Korean seems significantly lower. Often, when I give a command in Korean, the ChatGPT integration triggers but provides irrelevant or completely different responses compared to what was intended.

2. GPT Response Cutting Off
When I ask EMO “What is this?” (이게 뭐야?) in Korean, it starts answering correctly at first. However, the audio consistently cuts off before the sentence is finished. It seems like there might be a timeout or a buffer issue with longer Korean responses.

I would love to know if there are any planned updates to improve the Korean NLP (Natural Language Processing) or if there are specific settings I should adjust to fix the audio cut-off issue.

Thank you for your help!

Hello and welcome! Thank you for detailing this so clearly. It’s great to have users from Korea .

The issues you’re describing with Korean language support are known challenges with NLP (Natural Language Processing). The audio cut-off is likely a buffer or timeout issue with the server response for longer audio files, especially in languages other than English.

This is definitely something the development team needs to be aware of. The best place for this specific feedback is the main EMO Black/White Improvements/Special Features You Would Like? topic. Living.AI staff periodically review that thread for suggestions and bug reports related to firmware.

Posting your detailed report there will ensure it gets the most visibility for the engineers. I hope they can improve Korean support in a future update!

Best,

Hamza

is there a way to change / create a different schedule?,.

Hello, @sam.cranch . . . I have moved your new topic here to this thread as it applies.

At this time, there is no way to adjust what tasks happen at certain times.

There have been others asking for just that thing, so I have added your voice to the requests and hopefully this can be a feature in future firmware updates.
